Overview Armored Core 2 is a mech-combat game from a long-running series that started on the playstation. This the first of the series to appear on the Playstation 2. They're still pumping them out to this day making tiny, incremental improvements to justify each new release, of which there have been countless millions. (At least.) But I get the impression they got the formula down in this one. Story There isn't one really. Well there is, but its rubbish. Assorted criticism (This is the only section) In Armored Core 2 one spends a lot of one's time engaged in seemingly fruitless activity that would not normally be categorised as ... At last! A PS2 game that both looks good and plays well, a game with variety that requires some degree of thought. AC2 is set on a futuristic Mars ruled by mega-corporations who are at war with each other and with Earth Gov. You are a Raven, a mercenary who sells the services of your AC to the highest bidder. An AC? What's that? It's an "Armoured Core". Imagine a heavily armoured robot bristling with weaponry. Now imagine yourself wearing it like a suit and blasting everything that moves. Oooohhh... makes me shiver just thinking of it. It's enough to give you testosterone poisoning! AC2 is at heart a third person shooter. ... Read the complete review

There's nothing quite like messing around in your own metallic battle-suit - Armored Core 2 is excellent. Fire Armored Core 2 up and you'll be greeted with what has now become the PS2's trademark - an accomplished FMV intro which whets the appetite for (hopefully) an intense gaming experience. Fearsome Transformer-like Mechs (robot body suits) hurtle around the screen cutting loose with the big guns, laying waste to all and sundry, coming on like stern, iron harbinger's of Armageddon - it's great. So naturally, at this point I was resigned to the FMV being the high point of the disc. Happily, I was way out of line, as it goes. ... Read the complete review

Armored Core 2 is an action game for the Playstation 2 developed by From Software. The story takes place after the events of the first game, the world is in chaos struggling for resources and there are three companies fighting over the development of Mars, you are Raven an elite gun for hire and can choose to work for either of them and you actions could influence what happens on Mars and potentially end or save hundreds of lives! The story is nothing to special and didn't really click with me but I did enjoy the choices that the game allows you to make. You can choose to undertake missions for the various factions which will put you into combat ... Read the complete review

Now that the Playstation 2 has landed (kind of like the Mothership. Funky!), Sony naysayers are having a field day commenting on the lack of (dare I use the nerdy jargon) "killer apps." Actually, I hadn't really expected there to be any amazing games at launch. Historically, there haven't been more than one, maybe two games that are downright exceptional at the launch of any system. Admittedly, it seemed to me that Playstation 2 didn't even have the 1 or 2 exceptions. Crikey, was I wrong! What would you call a game that has the fast-paced action of Sega's Virtual-On, the ground-defying aerial battles of the Gundam series and the geeky yet ... Read the complete review
