I bought this racing game on the strength of a glowing review from a non-gaming dominated magazine. A little bit of a gamble as i had heard very little else about it and because I'm not a great fan of race games as it is. They need something a little extra to keep me playing like N64 pod racer or GT3. I was a little dubious about it once it had loaded up. The visual presentation was far from spectacular and the game play appeared very simplistic. After struggling through the difficult cars and tracks in GT3 I thought I'd bought a dud. Quad bikes in a game? What a good idea! In reality they are a life threateningly dangerous yet highly enjoyable monsters when pushed to their limits. ATV stands for All Terrain Vehicle which would suit a game very well considering you can go almost anywhere on any terrain you dare. Which makes sense why Rainbow Studios (The people in front of the fantastic PC bumabout, Motocross Madness) decided on the use of such machines. They are less stable than cars and less manoeuvrable than bikes, which make them all the more interesting. Have you ever had a video gaming epiphany? A moment of clarity where one simple little feature of a game made you realize how simple it can be for a game to achieve greatness.
