Burnout 3 Takedown - This Game Will Take You Down With It

Intro
------

I was getting fed up with your traditional racing games such as Gran Turismo in which you race around a track and be very safety concious i.e braking for every corner, trying to avoid skidding, sensible steering etc.. Now dont get me wrong Gran Turismo is a great game but i was looking for more. More fun, more speed. more ACTION ! Thats when i decided to buy Burnout 3 on its first day of release.

Gameplay
------------

Burnout 3 is a racing game like no other, you literally have to take down your opponets in the race to have any chance of winning, you do this by smashing into them causing them to veer into the nearest pillar, car or building. The gameplay is exhillarating and full of adrenaline. It is very FAST and FUN to play due to the cars, maps, modes to play + the takedowns. Its great fun smashing into your rivals in order to take first place.
The reason Burnout 3 was such a successful game is becuase it trys something new, and works.

There is many modes in this game to try out if you ever get bored with the single player. There is Crash mode which basically is what it says, all you have to do is try and cause as much damage as possible at 100 different types of junctions. This game mode is brilliant and great fun to play if your bored.
You also get Race mode, Time attack and road rage. Road rage is another favourite of mine whereby you have to make as many of your rivals crash as possible. As well as all this burnout 3 also has a multiplayer mode for playing online or just playing with some friends at home. I have never played online so cannot comment on this. All in all the gameplay is brilliant and full of variety !

Graphics

Burnout 3 has damn solid graphics. The cars are very detailed and the loations within the game are well drawn out. The car damage looks very realistic right down to the big dents in your chasis to the shattered glass from your windscreen. The graphics are well constucted in my opinion even when your bombing down a highway at 200MPH. So the graphics are top notch considering this game is now 4 years old !!

Sound
--------

Burnout 3 has some pretty impressive sounds. The roars from your engines, the smashing glass and cars as they pile into one another and the soundtrack even aint all that bad. The soundtarck is mostly rock/indie and it goes really well when your racing down the highway. The soundtrack + gameplay both have one thing in common = FAST PACED. The songs keep you pushing through the races as does your rival racers. If your not into the soundtrack you can always turn it off and just listen to the satisfying roars and smashes all throughout the game.

My Opinion
--------------

Burnout 3 is great for those people who are fed up with traditional racing games. Its full of fun, adrenaline, carnage and action. If you want more from your racing games then burnout 3 takedown is a must buy. It can be bought very cheaply now and is well worth it as it is pure brilliance at its best !
