Call of Duty 2 The Big Red One is a shooter for the Playstation 2 developed by Treyarch.

The game puts you in the role of a soldier in the Big Red One squad which is different from most other Call of Duty titles which have you join multiple squads and see the action from many different perspectives. The storyline takes you from the beginning to the end of the USAs campaign in World War 2 covering the liberation of Africa and even taking you into Germany for the final assault. The storyline I didn't feel was that exciting but the cast of characters around you really make you feel like part of a squad.

The game accurately captures the scale of a conflict and you will often have multiple friendly units on hand to help you out and of course no shortage of enemy soldiers to bring to justice. You can pick up any weapons you find from the battlefield which includes authentic weaponry of the era including a German MP40 submachine gun, the American BAR Rifle, The Thompson submachine gun, M1 Garand semi automatic rifle and more. The weapons are all satisfying to shoot and take enemies down with ease.

The game does keep things fresh throughout the game as there is large variety of mission objectives in addition to the good old walk forwards while blasting everything in your way! You will sometimes have to stealthily clear out houses, take control of a mounted machine gun, drive your own tank which is considerably more exciting than in Finest Hour thanks to better controls, call in the artillery with your binoculars and watch the fiery hail destroy the enemy emplacements. It is all a lot of fun to do and you will always be having fun.

The games graphics do a good job of recreating the War and the voice work from your squad is very well done which adds to the overall experience of the campaign.

The Big Red One is an excellent shooter with many exciting moments throughout its campaign.
