This COD is the first ever one, well the first original one in the series. This COD is a classic and a great game and the campaign takes ages to complete, even on easy difficulty levels. It also has multiplayer on it too, online play for the PS2. The graphics and battles push the PS2's processor to the limit, but producing outstanding results. Epic battles are throughout the campaign. You charge towards a building with over a hundred soldiers taking down enemies from windows, and you can choose what way you go round. The game is great and features different locations including Germany, Africa and more. The control and feel is loose but good nevertheless. You get to ride tanks, man turrets on vehicles and more in this epic game with hundreds of missions packed in. One of the best PS2 games I have ever played, will keep you entertained for ages and has lot's of different types of missions to do.
I brought this game as soon as I got back from a huge gaming session at my best friends house the night before! I fell in love with it. The graphics at that time were stunning , the range of weapons , countries and terrains were also mind blowing. This game was also different from other shoot em ups at that time as you fought in a small team in this one!
In the game , you play as solders from the UK , America and Russia. You fight your way through world war two in many different locations and battles including fighting off German attacks in the Russian city of Stalingrad , fighting as a British commando in North Africa and fighting street to street in French and German towns as an American. These are just a few examples. There is many more. When playing , the enemy (which is always Germans) is very predictable. E.g they will duck then pop back up again. This makes it easy at some points but not always as it does vary to a slight extent. Whilst playing in a Tank , you can also sometimes get stuck and the tank battles are quite tedious. It can also be very frustrating because the enemy's keep on coming until you get past a certain point which can make it seem impossible on certain difficulties! Overall , the gameplay is very good though and there is lots of levels so that the game can be played again and again with out getting bored!
When this game first came out , the graphics were the best that I had ever seen. They wouldn't be considered as amazing now (2011) , but still average which is an excellent achievement for a game which came out in 2005! The guns do look square when they are in a team mates hands but when they are in yours they look realistic! The scenery is great but when things are very close up they can look pix-elated.
The sound is great. Bullets have different sounds off different surfaces and the voice acting is excellent. Other characters shout commands and other things that make the game more realistic. The music isn't that great but does help to create an atmosphere sometimes.
The controls are good and much better than the controls in Medal Of Honor. To shoot is the right trigger which makes it more like you are actually shooting a gun. All of the other controls are just standered fps (First Person Shooter) controls.
Overall , an excellent game which is slightly dated now. Good campaign which could be replayed a few times before getting boring !
Call of Duty Finest Hour is a shooter for the Playstation 2 developed by Activision.
This game tells the story between three different soldiers fighting in World War 2, you play as different soldiers in the campaign playing as Russian, British and US soldiers. Each playable character usually have some differences in their position so while for some of the game you are a standard rifleman at other times you will be able to take control of tanks and use sniper rifles. The story is from the pages of history but all you really need to know is kill Germans.
As you control different factions of soldiers you will get your hands on a variety of vintage weapons ranging from the American Thompson submachine gun, the Russian bullet spraying PPSH and the British Springfield rifle. The game also is a pioneer among the shooter games being one of the first to allow you to aim down the sights of your weapon for a more accurate shot, though this does slow your movement and aiming speed.
The sense of scale in the game is far better than other shooters of the era for example Medal of Honor which forced you to go it alone for most of the game, Call of Duty gives you squad mates that will help you throughout the game and will even scout ahead of you to find the enemy positions so you get the feeling that you are part of a larger conflict.
There are a couple of flaws in this game such as the lack of frequent checkpoints, with a few shots able to take you out you may find yourself replaying lengthy portions of the levels. The tank levels and vehicle portions of the game are sadly slightly boring and pull the experience down a notch.
Graphics are on par with the Medal of Honor games but are more impressive thanks to the better scale on offer.
Call of Duty Finest Hour is a fine shooter for the Playstation 2.
This is the first war game produce by Call of Duty and i think it's a good action game for PlayStation 2. Released in 2004, this game goes back to world war 2 and there is three different nations which is included on the story mode and they are Russia, British, and USA.
The guns are amazing as the weapons come in different version as the British have the cabrin, and the Germans have the famous MP40, which you can use it during the game. This is an online game as you can play with your friends and it's a great fun. This game has got a big reputation around the world as it is played on tournament by team and playing against opponents. The first series of call of duty start as a story mode from a Russian perceptive, British, and finally American soldiers.
This is a game recommend for a full-paced action for a person who is a big fan of war games and shooting.
This game is one of the finest WWII sims out there on the PS2 market.
In the game you take on the role of various people in the Russian, American and British armies during World War 2. The missions are varied from being a sniper in Leningrad to driving a tank blowing up planes and other tanks.
The game can be quite awe-inspiring at first and the amount of noise and bullets flying around can take a little bit to get used to, but the realism is astounding. In the first level you really feel you are under attack from the Germans in Leningrad.
The controls can be a little tricky to start with, with every button on the joypad being utilised. But after a few hours playtime you will find the controls a breeze and you will be jumping around and firing off bullets like the best of them.
I have played this game for hours on end and it is still very challenging, but not overly so. I would not recommend this game to complete beginners to this genre of game, but novices and above should find this a good challenging game without becoming bored too quickly.
It's the best war action ever. Teamplay is realy fullfledged and exitement. One of the advantages is the variety of warfare. You can kill enemy from tank or from aircraft, armored car, from position of air defence gun, ships and submarine and so on. All of this warfare are differ of it's reality of gameplay. You could play on Japan side or as german as well as russian, english or american soldier.
Also the game is differs by it's variety of methods of directing war.
The main mission is to capture and to hold the positions.
Battles are generally going on land. But you also can attack from air and from the ships.
Than you play Call of Duty the time is going invisible.
Recommended for all ages, and remember you have to be at least 4 peoples to play it, but for maximum exitement nearly 8-10 peoples.
Genre = First Person Shooter

Call of duty is set in the world war 2. Every few levels you take control of different characters from british, russian, american and a few others which shows that a war is not won by a great hero on is own but as squad, team, the allied force as whole. With the developer doing this you get to see different levels each time from around the global.
The Graphics are pretty good, but some areas or tanks can be a bit gritty and undetailed at times. Although the people look fine but other FPS have done a lot better with facial features. You do come across some nice detail environments.
The sound on some of the levels, mainly the first few level there's just to much sound they tried to put in which makes it blurred and it gives a unreal atmosphere unlike to first levels from the Medal of Honor games with the d-day and pearl harbor scenes. Music which real adds to a battle, scene, atmosphere which don't seem to be there. The only good think of this area is the voice acting from some good actors.
The controls as mainly like any other FPS with left and right to change grenades and guns, throwing of grenades are performed with a different button then the fire button. The zoom on the sniper can't be zoomed in or out. When you take control of the tank, you will have to than get used to that. The controls are not great for the tank, you will be driving in the wrong direction and hit things. The first (inside) View is easy for shooting but without being able to see making it easy to crash, so you try the 2nd view (view from behind the tank) aim now is with a crosshair, which when shooting does not go to where it it.
The gameplay you would think be good with different people in different locations and use of a tank but its frustrating at best with the character walks/runs likes he has iron boots. With no fast run makes it very hard to leg it if there's a tank or a lot of incoming fire as it rips you up with the very slow speed. enemies seem to be almost bulletproof where as a whole clip of a machine gun will kill them or a few head shots with a sniper or a dozen in the chest may kill them. The tank missions can be dull as with each tank you see you both fire until your the only one left then if you taken some damage you just wait for your tank health regenerations. If it showed when you cannon was reloaded and it the tank could move a bit faster then there could be a bit of a strategy to severing then. What is good about the gameplay is that you can hold medic packs and with the press on the up button you can use one and you can use one on a team member but it easy to let them die as they always get in the way. You have the ability to lean around corners to look and shoot but will not let you through a grenade like this. The other thing is there's not many levels where you get to use a sniper gun or you can't not drive any jeeps although you do get to sit and use the gun when the caption drives in one level.
Well after reading about the gameplay you would think there's not much replay, well there's not. No co-op game or any multiplayer maps/games only for those with online capable. There's a few making of the games which you get by progress and cheats when you complete the game on different difficulty's
For up to 16 players can play online. Game modes are Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture The Flag and Serach & Destory. Playing online is fun but slow movment is still anoying. There are some very good levels to play on, some which is great for snipers.
To finish of its not a very good game and they would of been better if they made a better FPS and a different game with just tanks. Dont buy this for single play unless you are Online then you should buy this cheap, although there is now COD: Big Red One now out.
