GTA for the kids (Canis Canem Edit (PS2))

Advantages: Free roaming, good missions, plenty of minigames

Disadvantages: You can't save the game whenever you want

Canis Canem (previously known as Bully) got a lot of flack from the media for glorifying bullying/truanting amongst other bad things in schools. All I can say is surely they could not have been playing the same game as I did? Yes, during the game you can get into scraps with other kids, skip school etc etc but ultimately you're encouraged to stick up for the weaker kids, help out the nerds and you're certainly punished for breaking rules regarding truanting and curfew.
The game has been likened to a milder version of the Grand Theft Auto series (which is also made by Rockstar) and I'd say that that view is pretty much correct. It's free roaming, you have access to vehicles (a skate board and bikes), you have weapons (typical schoolboy stuff, nothing like the guns in GTA!), there are missions and minigames to keep you busy and you interact with various other characters throughout. It also has that annoying Rockstar feature of specific save points rather than just being able to save from the start menu, but we will forgive them for that seeing as they make such awesome games ;)
The missions themselves are usually good. Not overly easy but not impossible either. There are plenty of minigames to be found, including arcade games. Enough to keep you entertained.
It's probably not a game for younger kids, but its fine for teenagers. This is due to there being a little bit of violence and some sexual reference. Nothing that is going to turn your little Jonny into some gun wielding sociopth though!
