There are not many multi-player (offline) games that are not sport related so this one was (and is) a jewel!
It is a action-adventure game similar to Baldur's gate (if you are familiar to it)
and it offers a single player and a multi-player (for up to 4 players!) game mode. I have been playing solo game and two player since I do not have that add-on for PS for more players (although I have seen it does not cost much so I am considering buying it).
So first I must mention that graphics of this game are pretty awesome, some of the details are really fascinating.
You start the game by choosing a character - you can choose from 5 different character types and both are available in both genres, which is really great because not only can you choose your genre but this also allows players to select two characters of the same type if they wish to.
After you have selected the character you can customize the appearance of it to your liking - change hair, skin... After that you get some points to distribute between your primary skills (strengt, stamina....) and you are ready to go.
You enter a world of quests and defeating monsters. Levels are big but not to big, I would say that the measurement is just right so you don't get bored with the same scenario - I remember playing Baldur's gate and some of the levels were too big and I got bored with the same style of the rooms and such. Quests are understandable and achievable and have a good variety it't not all about retrieve or kill.
Your character levels up as he or she gains experience and with each level you get some points to upgrade your primary skills and some skill points which you use to choose/upgrade your special abilities or spells). You also collect weapons (normal or magical) from killed opponents which you can equip or sell (or buy) in the shop. A thing that I quite like with weapons and armour is that not only it has different stats it has different appearance and this is seen on your characters look.
I should not write to much of the content because it would be a spoiler I can only say that storyline is good enough.
When you finish the game your character is saved (well it is saved even if you have not finished it and you can start from beginning with your level upped hero) and you can start again on a more difficult level of game.
I think this is a great game if you like the genre and it is fun to play multi-player, I would recommend buying it.
The only disadvantage I found with it is that it is a little bit short if you are a hard core player.
I was recommended this game while searching for two player, co-operative PS2 games (simply because I like playing with my boyfriend but am fairly new to gaming at all and if we play against each other then I immediately lose!). I'm not big fan of 'realistic' war games and like fantasy so this looked like a good choice. Luckily, I rented rather than bought it...
It all started well, I love getting to pick out a character, armour, etc, and assign abilities and strengths so I enjoyed creating the character at the start. I had never played with this type of screen before - where both characters are in the same screen, rather than split, and one cannot move off independently of the other. It took a bit of getting used to but I was soon really enjoying the game and loved the fact that there is a 'shop' to buy and upgrade equipment (I know - its a bit girly when I even like virtual shopping and my frequent 'outfit' changes were soon stopped, we'd never have got anywhere in the game otherwise!)
That was when I still thought there was 'anywhere' to go...
Unfortunately, this game which started out being a lot of fun soon got very repetitive. Kill some monsters, navigate a maze, pick some stuff up, kill some monsters, etc.
While the level/background changed it seemed that nothing else did and once I stopped being thrilled each time I could update my weapons and ability I did begin to wonder what was the point. There was just no variety in the game at all, no puzzles, no different methods of fighting to learn, nothing. Ok, as I went on my character could cast different spells, or shoot different arrows but really this was just a bigger and better way to score more points (and the monsters got relatively stronger as you did so there wasn't really a lot of difference in the actual play). I gave up out of boredom after a few more levels.
Maybe I missed the point, maybe its just not for me, but I will carry on looking for a fun, challenging two player game with a bit more to it than this one.
Champions o norath is a fun balders gate style game for the ps2,Before you start playing you are going to need to create your charecter, you can choose a male of female from a Barbarian a elf a cleric a shadowelf or a mage, once this is done you can begin your first quest which is simple as it acts as a tutorial. As you move on you will be set simple tasks mostly you need to be upgrading your weapons and armour of which there are hundreds to choose and you must explore lots of dungeons, you will find little items along the way to add magical properties to your weapons and armour this adds another fun element to the game.
The hardest bit of the game is to level, kill everything you come across so you are in a good positon to take the next boss once you complete the game you can play again on a higher level or better weapons and equipment, ive re\lly enjoyed this game and will often repeat its similar to the balders gate and dark alliance games and i cant wait for more to be released
