Advantages: Everything

Disadvantages: Shortage of courses

Crazy Taxi is one of the (if not the only)best game for the Dreamcast and now it is out for the PS2. It isn't your usual racing game where you do endless laps on the same track over and over again. It is more of an arcade adventure game where you go around the streets of San Francisco picking up passengers and skoot them them all around. And when I say skoot them around, I really mean move it or fail!

There are four different characters to pick from, each with a different taxi to drive. In the game there are two main options to choose from, Original and Arcade. Arcade is just what it says, you race on the original arcade course. Original is a special course made only for the Sega Dreamcast. Both the tracks resemble a very good likeness of San Francisco and when you race down the hills, it is like something out of a 70's car chase movie.

Like every game there is one fault, there is a shortage of different tracks for you to race on. Fine, there is a mode where you can do all sorts of stuff like practice jumps and corners. But it is a one player game, what are your friends going to do? This game is too much fun to take turns.

The controls and gameplay is probably the best I've seen yet. I think the handling of a game is one of the most important parts.

The graphics are outstanding. San Francisco really looks like San Francisco, and there are all sorts of people to pick up. From a priest and a pregnant lady to a punk kid and an old lady. The course is almost fully interactive. You can knock over garbage cans, telephone booths, and park benches.

The sound effects are great too. Screaming people, horns peeping away, and all kinds of other city noises. You can even honk your own car horn, (really do not know why, maybe for added realism) The soundtrack is great and the bands are right up my street. Bad Religion and The Offspring make up the games soundtrack (those groups rule)

This is one racing game I would
recommend to everyone, whether or not you like driving games. This is a strange and original game which is hard to put down. Give it a bash!
