Advantages: quriky, very, original, hours of gameplay
Disadvantages: samey after a while, a little predictable
Sooo, little adventurey dude saves the world, hmm familiar. but wait? I get to build villages and decide how to lay them out? how cool is that? Ok, big genie guy distroys the world, including the village our hero lives in. All is not lost however, there are nice faries who liked the world how it was and saved most of it in little bubbles scattered around the dungeons of each town. So, without much choice our little guy has to brave the nasties and collect the towns piece by tiny piece. The levels consequently are split into the two areas, the dungeons where you fight the monsters and collect the bits of world and outside where you put it all back together again, how you want. yes, bosses at the end of each level? no surprise, but each of the bosses are hard enough to provide challenge. Take a couple of gos, and are unique, although that dog boss thing looks suspiciously like that never-ending story dude. It's those dungeons that are so frustrating! Each dungeon has levels. But each level looks the same, randomly generated, and very, very boring to look at. It's outside in the villages that really strike you, which is ok because that's where you spend most of the time. Light and shadow is cunningly incorporated to create time, and although you can predict that the next level will involve some flattened town with a dungeon to mop up and collect bits in, who cares? it's great! I was impressed with the control reactions;(very fast!) it leaves no room for the tedious movement some RPGs subject you to. Zelda fans will be satisfied with the real time battles, no turn based tedium here! And the voice acting is smooth and convincing enough to stop you wanting to avoid conversation. Weapon and character development is also good, your sword has a tendoncy to break if you use it too much and dont repair it, however you can upgrade it every so often. it just hurts when you spend ages building up a weapon and forget to check
it and it breaks, leaving you to start again. All in all, I love this game, I recommend it, for anyone stuck waiting around to be able to afford FFX or bored of theme park world.
