      Very helpful

A snowboarding slope gets shut down but you and your friends are given the task of discovering why!

Something strange is going on on Dark Summit, otherwise known as Mount Garrick, and the Goverment are warning everyone away. As one of several keen Snowboarders, you are given the task by your mysterious boss of discovering the truth behind this goverment cover-up conspiracy. But armed forces are out to stop you and all you have are your wits and your snowboarding skills, coupled with super-fast lightning reflexes, to help you uncover the truth......

This is basically your standard snow-boarding game but with added extra plot and, what really shouldn't work, actually pulls together pretty well! There are 45 mountain-based missions to complete with various different challenges and lots of jumps and tricks you need to pull off to progress further through the game. Doing tricks also earns you cash which you can use to buy bonus costumes and improved snowboards. There is also an option to play multi-player with other people simply by adding extra controllers. It seems as though the game-makers have pretty much thought of everything.

      But how does it play?

Very well, thank-you! The graphics are sublime with just the right element of spooky (you are not as alone on the mountain as you might think....) coupled with a real sense of extreme thrills. At times, I found myself getting so involved I could almost believe I actually was on the slopes. And yes, before you ask, when I pull off tricks, I am one of those people that always sways on the sofa whilst playing even though deep down I know it doesn't help!

Gameplay itself is surprisingly simplistic and easy to pick up even for a former skate/snowboarder novice who had only watched others playing Tony Hawks until purchasing this. Though at times, the script is cringeworthy, still the idea of mixing plot with a sports game such as this is an ingenious one and one I am surprised more game developers haven't picked up on! With the completion of each level, new clues are provided as to what the hell is actually going on so that revelations as to the true nature of the plot come almost as a reward for how good you actually are at pulling off killer moves on the slopes. This gives extra added incentive for you to complete the game above just earning notoriety as a gnarly snowboarder!

Overall this game comes highly reccommended from me! Even if you are not a big fan of snow/skateboarding games, you should really give it a go and, as an older PS2 game, can now be bought relatively cheap!

What do you get when you mix elements of a mystery-suspense story with in-your-face snowboarding action? One heck of a game, that's what. There's a deep plot evolving high atop Mt. Garrick, and you're just the extreme athlete to get to the bottom of things (no pun intended). It seems that snowboarders have never been very welcome in these skier-friendly parts, but now things have gotten out of hand. Local tough guy, Police Chief O'Leary has begun to drive all boarders off of the mountain, and he's doing his darndest to keep you and your buddies from discovering the peak's secrets. There are more than 45 challenges and missions to master, as you unlock hidden areas and find clues along the way. The awesome storyline is only trumped by the intense maneuvers and high-flying tricks that you'll be pulling off, and the graphics are positively top-notch. Make your way from the bunny slopes all the way to the summit, earning equipment upgrades and extra rewards throughout the journey.
