Advantages: More guns, more slow mo, use shadow the dog, better graphics

Disadvantages: Generic storyline. Very similar to the first.

Dead to Rights II is a shooter developed by Namco for the Playstation 2.

In this game you resume the role of Jack Slate a police officer and member of the K9 squad, the game sees you try and rescue a judge who was a friend of your murdered father who may have evidence on the corrupt police officers that turned on Jack in the first game, to rescue him you will have to shoot your way through a ton of gang members . The game is not strong on the story telling front and really just sets it up so you have an excuse to pump lead into a ton of people!

The game mechanics remain largely untouched with the same lock on combat system in place that lets you easily target foes and dispose of them. The arsenal of weapons returns with favourites such as the dual pistols, submachine guns, assault rifles and more all available for your enjoyment. The action is satisfying and this time they have included lots of explosive barrels which you can detonate for your own enjoyment.

The slow motion adrenaline move also makes a return and you can dive through the air guns firing wildly in what looks like a scene from a John Woo film. The adrenaline meter recharges a little quicker this time around and goes up when you kill people so expect to make good use of plenty of slow motion antics throughout the game.

Shadow your dog also makes a comeback to the game and your canine pal will handily gore enemies for you and retrieve their firearms, what a good boy!

The graphics have been much improved from the first with far more detailed characters and environments.

The problem with this game is it is just too similar to the first, but a little bigger and better, more guys to shoot, more explosions to be had and better graphics. The game is still a good action game, you've just played it before!

Summary: A decent action game.
