Def Jam Fight For NY - Fight For Your Life In This Brutal Beat Up Game ! Intro & Personal Thoughts ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Def Jam Fight For NY is the sequel to Def Jam Vendetta. I never really got the chance to play Vendetta as I never got round to buying it, however when I heard of a sequel I got rather interested. The reason for my interest was because it was not your boring old beat em up game that contained rules and regulations, it was a full on, powerful gritty game in which anything goes, and by anything, I mean anything. Fight For New York was the fighting game I always wanted and for good reason. It was and still is fantastic due to the ... Read the complete review

I'm not sure how relevant this game is, as it's an old game on an outdated console, but I wanted to review it because in my opinion it's the best game I have ever played, seriously. This game was actually a sequal to Def Jam: Vendetta, a game that a friend and I became massive fans of also. The principle is the same as any basic fighting game, you have a character, and you have to beat lumps out of other characters, but this game worked in so many other ways. If you know your music, and as I write this review I know one member especially will know the recording label of Def Jam. In the world of rap it is huge and has some of the biggest stars in the industry ... Read the complete review

Def Jam: Vendetta was a very fun fighting game that combined the worlds of wrestling and rap music to make something unique and interesting. It wasn't without its flaws, and Fight for NY has addressed the majority of these issues, making this all the more streamlined. Visually, it's quite the improvement - the characters look a lot more realistic and are very well modelled after their real-life counterparts. Whilst I quite liked the larger than life look of the previous game, this is a sequel that's all about being gritty and tough, and so the bright colours have all been toned down into far darker shades. The fighting stages are also very well rendered - ... Read the complete review

Beat-em ups have flooded the Playstation 2 market. There are over the top offerings such as Bloody Roar 3 and 4, beautifully rendered manga style ones such as Guilty Gear X and XX and even rival company creations such as Capcom Vs SNK 2 : Mark of the Millenium. Def Jam: Fight for New York does not really fit into any of these categories (well, it is very over the top actually!) and can only be described as a hybrid game. It mixes 5 main fighting styles - Kickboxing, Martial Arts, Submissions, Wrestling and Street-Fighting. All styles are fairly well represented, with submissions being the most interesting in which you wear down certain areas of the body ... Read the complete review
