Advantages: Excellent combat, good story, new styles to use, good graphics

Disadvantages: It's still a bit tricky

Devil May Cry 3 is an action game developed by Capcom for the Playstation 2.

The game follows the half demon half human Dante, he has much more personality than previous games and this game introduces his brother Vergil into the story, initially he is evil and wants to reclaim Dante's half of the amulet their mother gave them which will allow him to connect the demon and human worlds. The story is far more interesting this time around and you will be intrigued to see what happens between the two brothers as they go from fighting each other to eventually teaming up against greater evil.

Gameplay has received a few new tricks, now you will be able to choose from a number of different styles to play as. You can pick from Gunslinger, Swordmaster, Royal Guard, Trickster, Quicksilver and Doppleganger. While basic ones like Gunslinger and Swordmaster give you cool new abilities with your swords and guns you may find it better to go for a more defensive style such as Royalguard which allows you to parry enemy attacks or Trickster which makes your character more agile and you will be able to avoid attacks with greater ease.

The action in the game is still fast paced and remains as challenging as it ever was which is why picking one of the defensive styles is better as rushing blindly into fights swords whirling around is a sure fire way to lose the game. You do have a load of extremely stylish moves to use and gun attacks too but you will need to execute them at opportune moments avoiding enemies and slashing at them when they are not going to attack you. Devil Trigger again makes a return to the series and it is still brilliant to transform into a devil with powerful moves and attacks for a brief period of time.

Graphics are good with superbly smooth character animations and enemies are imaginative designed.

Devil May Cry is an excellent game, providing a good story and combat. Difficulty still may prevent you from getting it but the new styles help you out a lot.
