Advantages: Car handling, Driving is fun
Disadvantages: Car handling takes getting used to, on foot sections aren't quite right
The cleverly titled Driv3r is the third game in the franchise for the Playstation 2.
The game has you resume the role of Officer Tanner from the first two games and in this one he is set with the task of tracking down the leaders of a crime syndicate who are stealing cars.
He works with his partner Tobais Jones and the story will lead them through a series of twists and turns that find them travelling to three different cities and even become double agents. The story was not the greatest but it entertained me and kept me playing.
The gameplay takes place both in and out of your car, the in car segments are pretty fun. There are a variety of different cars for you to "borrow" and use, handling of these vehicles is pretty unforgiving and goes for quite a realistic approach to driving making you master the driving physics and it really feels satisfying when you do, but it can be frustrating initially. Driving missions have car chases and are generally pretty cinematic and fun.
Missions also involve on foot shooting sections, these are sadly not asgood as the driving portions of the game. Tanners movement seems to be messed up as the animations are very stuttery, he also runs faster diagonally than forward, its really awkward to watch.
The gunplay is handled decently with a few different weapon types for you to pick up and use and health packs to pick up when you are running low on health. Standard stuff at best here.
Graphics are not a strong point, the animations are messed up as I mentioned but the cities and cars do look pretty decent.
While it's not the best action game around you should be able to enjoy atleast the driving sequences in Driv3r.
Summary: Dissapointing but still decent.
