With the disappointment that Gran Turismo 2000 (which has now been labeled Gran Turismo 3) won't make Christmas, PS2 fans were left with a void to fill, and Square's Driving Emotion was the closest game that would fit in that gap. But is it worthy to fill such a gap? Well no, quite frankly it stinks and here's my reasons why. Driving Emotion features a plethora of well known real-life cars, from manufacturers such as Honda, Mazda, Subaru, Porsche, and Ferrari, but to name a few. This is probably what makes you think this game is trying to follow in the foot steps of Gran Turismo, but beneath the cool looking exterior lies a dimwitted circus chimp ... Read the complete review

From the moment you put this game into your Playstation 2 the only emotion it seems to deliver is one of sheer depression and anger after all it cost you £40.The Playstation 2 logo comes and goes and then no flashy intro just a bland front end screen which wouldnt look out of place on a PSone game.Press Start and you get the obligatory race modes,Arcade,Time Trial etc, nothing different there but its in the execution of these modes that you really start to feel that you've been mugged by a geriatric. Play Arcade mode for a few tracks and you start to realise that there is no structure to it,after completing the track and coming first you dont move onto the next ... Read the complete review

General/Summary: Square have never been renowned for racers, and this creation 'Driving Emotion Type S' is guaranteed to keep Square at the bottom of the pack, for now at least. It's obvious Square have no descent experience in this field of gaming, because mixing the best bits of 'Need For Speed', 'Gran Turismo', 'Sega GT' and 'TOCA' is clearly not the way to go, well not in this fashion. This is by far the worst PlayStation 2 title i have played, which results really in another disappointing, if not hyped PlayStation 2 title. Gameplay: The normal play mode offers a choice of seven vehicles, five manufacturers and three ... Read the complete review

Just imagine it: going smugly down to your local import shop, opening the door, grabbing a wonderful blue and silver PS2 box from the shelf and placing it on the counter. The man behind the counter takes your £4** or so cash and you smile with delight as you pick up your new PS2. Then the mistake. You pick Driving Emotion Type-S from the shelf and quickly give him the 55 quid as you leave the store. He laughs to himself at your unknowing act of buying such a rubbish game. OK, the graphics are OK, but nowhere near PS2 quality, the car handling's rubbish, and the number of cars doesn't even touch Ridge or GT. The extra features are non-existent, I could go ... This game isn't good at all, why? This game had so much true potential, it was coming from Square, the makers of the Final Fantasy series! What went wrong! The graphics are sub-standard and the cars are not very detailed at all, we were all looking forward to a Gran Turoismo beater here but htat just didn't happen. When you take the in-car view everything on the outside seems to become a big blur and you can't really make out anything on the road ahead. The gameplay isn't good either, the cars don't handle well at all and you always get the feeling that not enough thought went into the car physics. The courses are just normal and ...
