Deciding earlier this week to 'whip out' my PS2 and have a small play on some of my old games, I came across this... F1 2001. If there's one type of game that has always been in abundance on Sony's consoles, it has to be the racing game, with their being so many of them: Ridge Racers, Gran Turismo, Wipeout... Although many new, almost real, gaming systems have now been released (PS3, XBOX 360...), you sometimes miss those basic graphics and much more fun and challenging game plays. F1 2001 is one of these that are really unrealistic - with the handling more like an arcade game than a simulation experience. The graphics are 'ok', but ... Read the complete review

Formula One videogames have always been a hard sell in the US because of its less than stellar popularity combined with the fact that general difficulty of most F1 racing games have scared away the general populous. Since most people here in the States don't have any emotional attachments to drivers like Michael Schumacher or Mika Hakkinen, or their teams, Ferrari and Mclaren, there also hasn't been any real reason for the masses to even try to learn to play these games. With F1 2001, Electronic Arts is hoping to try and please both the F1 enthusiasts and those that don't really care all that much about F1, but are looking for a new racing game to play. ... EA sports are back again, with another mega packed game. This time in the form of an F1 racing sim. This game is competing directly with Sony?s own Formula One 2001 game, who comes in at pole position will be decided by us the consumer. F1 2000 was sent back to the drawing board as it was simply rubbish therefore EA had to reinvent what is essentially a game that involves driving around at high speeds and admiring the boring scenery. This seems like a hard task especially if the concept sounds rather dull. F1 Has tried to do things differently. The most noticeable difference between 2000 and 2001 is the challenge mode. You have to complete the set of ... Read the complete review

F1 2001 is one of the now many Formula One based games available for the Playstation 2. And, of the ones I've played, it sticks out as being the best. Some of you may remember reading my review of Formula One 2001, not to be confused with F1 2001, which I thought looked good, but was unrealistic. Well, F1 2001 does everything Formula 1 2001 did, but it feels good to. It feels real; it gives the player an experience, a view inside the elite world that is F1. So, what is so great about this game? Well firstly I managed to buy it for just £30. OK, it's a little bit old now, but none of the circuits have changed a great deal since it was made, and lets face ... Read the complete review

The unfortunate ones among you who have endured my driving game reviews before will already know that this is going to be a long one! It really doesn’t matter what it is in terms of ‘driving’ although my favourites are Touring Car and Rally games. Formula One is probably the biggest Motorsport in terms of fans and viewers and quite understandably so. Fast cars, glamorous locations and more money than you can shake a golden stick at. For fans of F1 games there have over the years been numerous titles to choose from across the formats, the most famous of which is no doubt Geoff Crammond’s Grand Prix games. Some gamers find them a ... Read the complete review
