Advantages: great graphics, sound and presentation
Disadvantages: lap times and speed is unrealistic
One word sums it up....'Rushed'. I am a massive F1 fan and I love to be racing games so not being big headed, I know a decent F1 game when I see it. I want to drive a game which resembles F1 as much as possible and leaves you wanting more. F1 2000 really stumbles. I got a US copy of F1 2000 and I got it in pretty cheap compared to the UK but I don't think you would get me shelling out £50 for this. First time of putting it in...I thought the graphics and sounds were stunning...they can't be beaten..even by GP3. The attension to detail is great, all sponsors are there and tyre marks appear when cars touch one another. You get the heat haze from the starting grid to a full pitcrew shown changing your tyres etc. When accelerating away from stationary the car reacts like a real one and you feel the power put down..you can also get tons of smoke if you are to heavy with the accelerator. The crashes are fun and realistic and you have to keep you wits about you because the slightest touch can knock your wheel off or put you in the barrier. Now...where they rushed...the most obvious place is that racing is unrealistic..the first lap or so you can make 10 places by the first corner but what tends to happen is that when it comes to a corner..your opposition can go alot faster around it...but when your on the straights you shoot past them....it ruins the race. Who wants to see a car do 100MPH around a 50MPH corner? They rushed it because they knew there was a market for this type of game on the PS2...but they rushed it to much...also the lap times are well out compared to the real thing. If they can get that sorted out and improve things like adding flags, pace car...make it more realistic then it could become THE game to have.
