Advantages: Different styles of play, feels like the show, good graphics

Disadvantages: Gameplay can be poor, horrible stealth levels

Family Guy is an action game for the Playstation 2 developed by 2K games.

The game has a separate storyline for each of its playable characters, Peter has been hit on the head by a satellite dish and is delusionally believes that his family has been kidnapped and goes around beating everybody up in his quest to recover his family. Brian has been accused of doing the deed with Seabreeze and it wasn't him so he has to go and prove his innocence. Stewie has to accomplish his goal of world domination but he has to get his rival Bertram out of the way first!

Each plotline isn't that good story wise but the voice acting and trademark ridiculous Family Guy humour is present and you will find plenty of moments to laugh for example when you discover that it was Quagmire that is the father of the puppies!

Each character gets their own unique gameplay, Peter just goes through the various sections of Quahog and beats up enemies in one of his various personas, these sections of the game are actually quite tricky as you don't get many health recovery items.

Stewie gets platforming and shooting levels where he must travel locations such as Bertrams secret base and zap enemies with his laser gun while traversing environments and occasionally taking over one of the cast with mind control, Stewies portions of the game are actually some of the best providing a good mix of action and basic puzzle solving.

Brian gets probably the worse sections of the game for himself; he has to use stealth mechanics which are easy enough to mess up in a game devoted to stealth to stay out of sight of enemies to reach the end of his levels, while not staying in the same place for long as he urinates on things. These just become annoying because if you are spotted you need to restart.

Graphics are actually quite good and the cast translate quite well into a 3D action game, voice acting is good as it gets all the original cast members in to record lines.

Family Guy the game captures the humour of the show but the gameplay is hit and miss.

Summary: Good for fans.
