Advantages: Can control the keeper, and good gameplay
Disadvantages: Be A Pro mode needs work and keeper is very poor
This game is one of my favourites in the Fifa range, even with the improvements in the latest versions. The gameplay is relatively simple with 8 directions in which the player can move and tricks are very easy to do with the rotation and movement of the right analog stick.
The teams are all rated fairly accurately inthe game and this is an important aspect that is often overlooked in football games.
New to this version of fifa is the 'Be A Pro' mode this has potential to be very good and enjoyable but unfortunately it lacks invention and ultimately ends up to be very frustrating. This mode is where you take control of one player, or create your own, in an individual team. You are then set tasks which you gain points for and make your player better, however some of these tasks are utterly stupid. One is calling to recieve the ball the most which takes no skill at all and can be of detriment to your overall team performance. Another task is not to be offside more than a number of times, this is not caught offside when a ball is played but whenever there is only one person between a player and a goal. As a result of this task you cannot make forward runs in anticipation as this will result in you being caught offside.
Another problem with the game is a bad glitch with the keepers. The first problem with the keepers is that you cannot take the ball round them which is totally unrealistic, added to this if you try you are often taken out before the keeper claims the ball and nothing is given. However the most frustrating problem is if you bring your keeper out to clear the ball they will almost always slice it which results in the ball going out for a thrown in, corner of even into your own net!
On the other hand this game is very enjoyable to play and offers a great choice for a football game and i would recommend it to people who enjoy the more simple football game compared to the latest releases.
Summary: One of the best old style football games
