FIFA 2001 (PS2)

Fifa 2001 is the latest in a long line of football games, this time for the Playstation 2. There are over 50 international teams to choose from and 16 domestic leagues which are fully playable. The graphics are superb, the gameplay relatively easy to master and there are many improved features in this version of the game. I have always preferred the Fifa games to the ISS ones, the argument goes that the ISS games are more playable but Fifa has the correct player names, strips and even stadiums in some cases. I've found some things with the game I don't like, but at the same time have a hard time not playing it at the end of the day. Its addictive! The custom tournament option is exciting and lets you play a quick championship without getting into a 40 game season. I'd like to be able to construct any tournament that I want, picking the teams for each group instead of just randomizing with a set of teams. For example, the auto selection for the World cup is ridiculous, putting, sometimes, four European teams in one group. Fifa 2001 is the latest in a long line of football games bearing the now legendary FIFA moniker. The graphics bring out the true potential and power of the PlayStation 2. This is the first thing that attracted me to the game, it's graphics. I normally go for gameplay, but with FIFA and it's history, that is a given. Suffice to say that the game is visually stunning and the most realistic and detailed of all of the games in the Fifa stable. There are many different modes in this game, including 16 leagues, season mode and training mode. I've always been a big fan of EA Sports. They create some of the best sports games in the business, and this one is once again an excellent game. Graphics: The graphics in FIFA 2001 are very good, but could be slightly better considering it is built for Playstation 2. EA seems to have a little bit of trouble getting the quality they would like for the new console. The graphics aren't spectacular, but they also aren't poor. I will give the graphics a B.
