Advantages: Brilliant first touch
Disadvantages: Commentry is predictable
When I first brought Fifa I thought this is just going to be another rubbish fifa game just with 2005 written on the packaging. But when I got home I was proved wrong.
First off let’s talk about the things that haven't changed. The free kicks are still superior to any other football game, even that of Pro Evolution, with ultimate placement and spin.
The replays and camera angles are also fairly complex and quality; letting you play the match from any angle you could dream of, what more could you ask for.
The atmosphere of Fifa is also amazing, especially when walking on to the pitch, as the graphics are amazing, just some of the player’s faces are lacking that extra bit of spice.
So one good point about this is the game is full of different game modes, which could keep you playing for hours on end.
But now to the commentary, when it comes to football everyone thinks they know more about the subject then the next person that walks by, and gets sick of commentators pronouncing names wrong, 'Heinze' , and this applies to Fifa, which is what makes the commentary rubbish. Why not having options, like being able to change from normal commentary to 'fan zone', which would be much better.
But the sound effects are suburb but it is the commentary which lacks.
Now for the new stuff. First off, the one touch football, you can control the ball instantly with flick ups/ons or knock the ball in to open spaces.
Career mode is also a big step up for fifa, after trying to add abit of management into Fifa 2004 to no avail, but a year later they have got it right.
Now there is even more depth then before, with success or failure just around the corner with multiple seasons (15 in total), in till you get your 0 star manager into a 5 star perfectionist.
Creating players has also been step up a level since the last Fifa; as now you can make the perfect player, with complete control over the player’s abilities and appearance you can make him look however you like, just let your imagination run wild.
My Fifa 2005 store is also a new feature to the game, as when you accomplish tasks you get points, which then can be spent in the shop, to buy items such as 3rd kits, new balls, stadiums and even new tracks for the jukebox.
Also now Fifa have added 'Football Fusion', where you can play individual Total club manager 2005 matches in Fifa 2005 or even export teams from total manager to Fifa 2005, including teams which are not supported by Fifa 2005.
And if you get bored of playing alone or playing on multiplayer you can now play live, by playing other players all over the world, so you can never get bored.
But overall I think Fifa is a good game and it is still a league above rivals such as Pro Evolution, this is football and club football.
Thanks for reading my review.

Fantast ic sounding game, your description of the new career mode has tempted me to buy it no end.
Not too worried about the commentry. I hope the music is still good.
Great op.

- 20/01/05 An OK review and game, but maybe you could have compared it to Pro Evolution.
