Advantages: Football, Options
Disadvantages: None
With so many Football games on the market it can be hard for a newcomer to decide on which one to get. Luckily I have experience with these football computer games and I have very well acqaunted with the FIFA series in particular. This is because I have had the most games from them.
The advertising is a strong part of the brand and in 2005 they had three well known footballers on the front cover, Patrick Vieira, Fernando Morientes and Andrey Shevchenko. This enhances their reputation with a long line of top players on the cover in the past.
There is a great training setup that has been improved on since the last series. Even though you still have same training drills they have been improved. This allows you to work out set plays and free kicks much quicker than before and newcomers will pick up the skills more quickly than on other games.
There are 18 leagues featured in this game from around the world including all the top leagues from around Europe. There is also a section for rest of the world teams with a selection of top teams from lesser countries without a big well known league. You can also choose from 38 International sides and can pick from around 30 of the players included in their squads.
The gameplay is much better than any Football game I had played before this, It makes the games much more real and exciting. You can have great end to end games or tactical battles with your friends or the improved AI on the computer. It's best to play the computer at semi pro to start of with if you are a good gamer.
The graphics are far improved aswell with players looking realistic and the passing, crosses and shots looking realistic. The stadiums are all very well crafted and you have some of the most well known stadiums in the world on show with great detail.
A great new mode is the Career mode where you can choose to create a legendary team and take them to glory with a mix of management and playing. You can pick up credits for your esults and you can use these to buy new players and get extra items like footballs etc.
EA Sports online is a great new way of playing games, this allows you to play against people from around the world on the internet. I havent used this feature but I have heard very good things about it from games testers and word of mouth.
There's also a great mode which allows you to create players and add them to your favourite team, this allows you to put yourself in the same team as your favourite players. You have all the stats you need to create a very fine player.
I bought this game from game for £19.98 and I have seen it on ebay and various other places for under £15. Now I think that this is better than FIFA 2006 so It may be worth you checking this one out first.
Overall this is an improvemnt on all the FIFA games before 2005 and is in my opinion better than FIFA 2006 aswell. I can't wait for the next installment of FIFA's series to see if they can improve on this one.
Summary: A great game of footy.
