Advantages: great graphics, good as an RPG

Disadvantages: I have found that I hate RPGs

Final Fantasy X is the tenth game of the Final Fantasy gaming franchise. It tells the story of tidus, who winds up in the middle of a battle against Sin, a monster who destroys everything Tidus knows at the beginning of the game. With the help of his friends, Tidus must stop Sin.

I will be frank right at the beginning, I did not play this game all the way through. The reasons for this will soon become apparent. I bought this game because it was recommended to me and because, having so many games made, I thought it couldn't be a bad series. I was told that it was an action/adventure game. Also, some of the characters are in the Kingdom Hearst series of games, which i really liked and are made by the same people who make the Final Fantasy series. I really wish that this game was like the Kingdom Hearts games, and am glad that I only lost $1 on this game (I traded it), because i don't like it one bit.

The graphics were great for the most part. In the cutscenes, Final Fantasy has the best graphics I have ever seen in person, but the in-game graphics were no where near as good as the cut scenes. This is not unusual, in my experience, but the in-game graphics looked layered, characters on background type thing. They were better than some graphics in Bloodrayne 2, I'll give the in-game graphics that. Enemies were also awful, they just stood there and swayed back and forth, like a person shifting from foot to foot!

The sound in the story parts was great, but there was hardly any in-game sound, except for that which was needed to make the enemies make sounds, and the sounds of hitting. As a matter of fact, the cutscenes were all around amazing, where everything in-game was a lot lower quality-or just downright awful.

The gameplay was the worst part of the game all around. This is why I didn't even try to play the game all the way through. The game's makers, Squaresoft, played up the new battle system for this game. As I havn't played any other final fantasy game (and don't want to, after playing this one for a while), I don't know anything about the old one, but i hope this one was actually a lot better than the old battle system. Unlike most games, Final fantasy X's is one where you have to take turns with your enemy. What is with that! I have personally never heard of such a thing! Why not be able to get a hit in whenever possible like every other game I have ever played! To get your hits in, you have to wait your turn, let the enemy hit you, them choose how you want to hit, from a list of options, instead of just hitting a certain combination of buttons, like every other game. And here's the real kicker, if you are fighting with someone else, you can accidentally hit your ally, instead of only the enemy. In every game I have ever played where you were with several other people, you couldn't turn traitor and shoot your allies, no matter how much they were getting in the way. This is not cards! The only good part of this battle system is that you get all the time you need to make your choices, so you don't have to rush.

The only time you get to move your character is when walking from one battle to another or exploring an area for special items, which you do when walking from one battle to another. You cannot move around your enemies when in battle. I like to be able to move whenever I want, strike whenever I want, you know the drill. I like to be able to move around at will.
Even worse was that there was no tutorial that i could find telling you exactly how to make your choices. I wound up hitting my allies and hardly doing damage to my enemies. It's amazing that I got as far as i did in the game.

Other than the cutscenes, this game was horrible all around. There is a very long list of things that could have been done to make this game better. The bones were there to make a great game, and Squaresoft can make amazing graphics, but graphics alone aren't enough to make this game great. All Graphics, no gameplay. Squaresoft, get your prioities straight.
This game gets a 1 star rating, because there is no lower rating.

I Understand now that this is a RPG, but I don't understand what all of the hype is about, I hated this game! And if it is a great example of a RPG, then I don't ever want to play one.

Summary: If you like RPGs, then buy it, if not, then stay far away

It just seemed a cast of misinformation when you bought FFX, whoever told you it was Action/Adventure was lying D:. It's an RPG through and through, I guess you weren't the target audience, good that you only lost £1 on it though, nice save :P.

I do not particularly like RPG's and I agree with you! What is with all the popularity?
