God of War 2 is an action game developed by Sony for the Playstation 2.
The story picks up at the end of God of War, Kratos our Spartan hero has now defeated Ares and become the God of War himself however he uses his new powers to aid his Spartan people in conquering the world and the rest of the Gods are displeased.

Zeus strikes him down almost killing him Kratos is now a mortal and full of rage for the Gods of Olympus, he must travel around going to each of the sisters of fate to change his own fate and make sure he can bring destruction on the Gods that betrayed him. Its a basic tale of revenge but wrapped in mythology giving it a unique feel and making it even more enjoyable.

The game still includes the excellent combat that the first was famous for and has amped the violence up a notch, Kratos still has his chain blades and can whirl them around slicing every foe to pieces, toss enemies in to the air, throw a chain blade into them and slam them to the floor. It's very brutal action and extremely satisfying to perform.

The game still includes the brutal finishing moves which make a return and this time are used more often, for finishing some of the larger standard enemies in brutal finishers which require you to press or mash a button which feels like you are struggling against the enemy to defeat it. These are still incredibly satisfying to perform and striking visually.

The game does add some new features like now you can pick up different weapons but unfortunately you will want to stick with the standard chain blades as they are the most effective. You will also get to ride on the mythical winged horse Pegasus and a gryphon and participate in some really excellent flying combat.

Graphics are sharp and detailed for the Playstation 2 the environments are also spectacular and some of the giant boss characters are superb in scale. Kratos has an excellent voice actor and the rest of the voice cast do a good job too.

If you liked the first God of War, God of War 2 offers more of the same but amps everything up making it even better.

Summary: A superb sequel.
