Advantages: Great Visuals, Engrossing Story, Challenging

Disadvantages: Can Be A Little Too Challenging For A Casual Gamer

God of War follows the Story of Kratos, The Ghost Of Sparta. When the God of War, Ares, assaults Athens with an Army the gods recruit Kratos as their instrument against the rouge god. Hereafter we learn of Kratos background and why he carries such a burden.

The visuals of the game are breathtaking. While it game is considered old now, it still looks great. The actions flows without effort and even with 30 or 40 enemies on screen there is no drop in frame rate. Virtually no load screens helps to keep the action fast paced. There is a fair amount of gore, red vibrant blood squirts out when you strike and enemy, but this only adds to the aesthetic style of the game.

Kratos uses his Blades of Chaos, huge blades of fire attached to his arms with chains, to kill Ares army. These, along with any powers the god provide him, are upgradeable on the pause menu. You collect red orbs when an enemy is killed and these are used to upgrade your weapons.

The game is fairly challenging and while the puzzle elements are not the hardest in the world they may take you a minute to get your head around. Once you've finished the game on the default difficulty setting you unlock harder difficulty settings and a whole host of bonus material. Finishing the game on a higher setting unlocks even more material, although its easier said than done.

Overall God of War is a great game, one that you should if you don't already. Although its not one for the kiddies.
