God of War is an action game developed by Sony exclusively for their Playstation 2 console.

The story of God of War follows our hero Kratos, a muscle bound extra from 300 Spartans! Kratos has to perform a mission for the Gods of Olympus, take down Ares (the god of war). To do this Kratos must journey across ancient Greece to find the legendary Pandoras box which is the key to killing a god. Along the way as you learn more about Kratos you will realise that his character actually has some depth and grow to like him.

In the game you will control Kratos, he is a powerful warrior equipped with the legendary chain blades which he can perform many awesome combos with, it's really satisfying to tear foes up by spinning these blades and slamming them brutally to the floor in a whirlwind of fire. You do get some magic attacks to do which will help you out if you are in a tight spot but they aren't as awesome as the chain blades!

There are also some puzzles for Kratos to solve that usually amount to moving a few objects around to open the next area to you, nothing that will give your brain to major of a workout!

The game is actually pretty challenging, basic foes soon get tougher and require some strategy to take down and the boss enemies are epic battles with often giant mythical creatures such as a Hydra, in each boss battle there are always extremely brutal finishing moves for you to perform with a few quick button presses, it works extremely well and is immensely satisfying visually. God of War is where this fascination with quick time events started people!

The graphics look great but are very gory, the epic scale of the bosses are impressive to look like. The voice acting for Kratos give him real personality.

The journey to defeat Ares is an epic and bloody adventure that should not be missed, God of War is brilliant.

Summary: Superb action game.
