Advantages: Still fantastic graphics and presentation, excellent game engine

Disadvantages: Lack of damage to the cars detracts from the realism slightly

Even though this game has been out for over 3 years now it still stands the test of time as probably the best driving simulator ever, if not one of the best video games ever !!

The Gran Turismo series first came out in 1997 for the original Playstation console and ever since then has evolved and improved on a winning formula, now we have GT4 ( as it's known to its fans ) the most realistic driving simulator to date ( not counting GT5 Prologue, which is currently out for the PS3 but isn't really classed as a complete game !! )

How about 721 cars to choose from ? 51 Tracks to test your driving skills and wits, and the new addition of the "B-Spec" mode where you can take the role of a racing crew chief and instead of actually driving the race yourself, you can instruct the driver how to drive the race, tell him when to pit, when to overtake etc the other nice feature is you can speed up the race up to 3x faster then the normal speed, which is nice as it makes those pesky endurance races a little easier to manage !

The graphics on GT4 at the time of release were incredible and now even though we're in the age of the PS3 , XBOX 360 etc they still stand up to some of the offerings nowadays. yes they're a little pixelated and yes they're not as smooth as what's available right now, but they're still impressive.

A couple of downsides to the game are the continued absence of manufacturers like Ferrari , Lamborghini, Porsche ( Although some Porsches are available using RUF which modify Porsches ) which I believe has been corrected for the forthcoming installment in the series and the biggest criticism the game suffers from is the lack of rendered damage to the vehicles, you can happily bash into walls over and over again with no repercussions at all, although I believe it has something to do with the manufacturers not wanting their cars to be showing in the game with damage, but it does detract from the realism slightly, however that is a minor concern and this still is one of the finest video games in existence and one that will keep you entertained for months and months

Summary: Pretty much a perfect game
