Advantages: Will keep you occupied for many hours

Disadvantages: Too many side missions

GTA: San Andreas was a groundbraking game for the PS2. The graphics arent the best you will find on the console but the gameplay is brilliant. It others more playability than almost every other game on the PS2 and will have you addicted for many hours.

The storyline follows Carl Johnson who has just returned to the city after spending five years in Liberty City and with his mother recently being murdered. You follow CJ as he works along side his brother to try and bring back their gang after the gang has lost much of its influence. You have to deal with rival gangs and corrupt police as you try to make a name for yourself again.

I really enjoyed the missions in the game and many of them were quite inventive as opposed to the missions in GTA:IV. The final mission is brilliant and I wish there was a function were you coukd replay some of your favourite missions after completing the game. The casion robbery is a brilliant mission as well and not only to you rob the casion but in the missions preceeding it you have to do certain tasks to help with the robbery.

Unlike the previous 3D GTA games San Andreas is a state with 3 big cities and numerous small towns spread over the map. The three cities are Los Santos, San Fierro and Las Venturas. The cities are based on the real life cities of Los Angeles, San Fransico and Las Vegas respectively. The map also boasts a moutain. The cities are well spread out but the game offers plenty of vehicles for you to travel between cities in. To incorporate all of this into the game an incredibily large map was needed which could have ruined the game but so much was put onto the map that you really dont notice the distance between cities. Players can travel in a vast array of bikes, cars, lorries, planes, helicopters and even by train.

Each city offers its own quirks to the game with Los Santos home to a vast amount of gangs. San Fierro has many of the sights that you would find in San Fransico including the Golden Gate bridge. Las Venturas has the casinos that you would find in Vegas where you can gamble away all your money if you wish.

The game has too many side missions however and anyone hoping to complete the game 100% will be looking at spending many hours playing the game.

The game is also the only two player GTA so you can ride around with a friend however the gameplay on this is very limited. The game will remain on one screen and you can only go a certain distance from the perosn you are playing with. You also have to travel in the same vehicle together but sadly rockstar left this feature out of GTA:IV which was a bit disappointing.

GTA: San Andreas is the best game in the series but my favourite is still Vice City. The storyline in Vice City is much more interesting to play however much of the map in that game is taken up by a beach and the airport which takes away from some of the positives of it. For anyone interested in buying San Andreas you wont regret the decision there is to much to do in the game for you to ever get bored of it.

Summary: The best 3D GTA game yet
