As an avid guitar player when I first heard about Guitar Hero, I spent 2 hours in the shop playing on it, back when the first one came out I didn't have much money so couldn't afford it. When I was searching on EBay in August, I saw Guitar Hero 2 for a pretty good price; the only problem was it didn't come with the guitar. So here I am, reviewing the GAME not the guitar, I'll add more about the guitar when I finally get it for Christmas. PACKAGING You get a normal PS2 case with the disk and instruction manual in. The instruction manual tells you how to play with the guitar and without, I was getting quite panicked when I brought it ... Read the complete review

Put simply, the Guitar Hero games represent a variation on the “tap buttons to the rhythm format”, but with a very important difference – you get to pretend you are a rock star on stage! However, there is much more to it than that. So, to the basics. The game has 4 modes, and we will start with training. Within training there are two options, the first of which is the tutorial. This teaches you the basics of the game: How to play notes, how to play chords (more than one note at once), how to hammer-on and pull-off and how to build up and use Star Power. Within the training section, there is also an option to practice the various songs in the game ... Read the complete review

note: originally written by me for Freeola.com (username: Reefer, I can prove this is my account if needed, thanks!) When I first heard that a rhythm game involving guitars was being made for the PS2, I was ecstatic. I loved the PS1's classic title "Guitar Freaks" (which never made it to UK shores), and I practically salivated when I finally landed my mits on Guitar Hero. Guitar Hero was an innovation. As good as Guitar Freaks was, this was much, much better. With a great line-up of licensed songs (granted they are cover versions), and a superb notation display system, Guitar Hero was a sure-fire hit, and did very well in sales. It's ... Guitar Hero 2 is the sequal to the bestselling music game. The game comes with a guitar that plugs into the controller port of the PS2. You can purchase the game without the guitar and use the original Guitar Hero I guitar. Guitar Hero II features over 50 songs so there is always going to be somthing that you will know. The game is simple to get at first but can take months to master the screen is simply a guitar fret board with different notes going down when they reach the bottom you must press the correct note and strum the bar to play. Easy mode features just 3 notes and moves quite slow after that is medium, hard and expert mode ... Read the complete review

This is the folowup to the fantastic Guitar Hero game, recapturing the fun from the first game , not a lot has changed. But is that nessesarly a bad thing? Not for me, for this although may seem like a simple update, they have made the game slicker, quicker to load and gave the presentation a bit of an overhaul. It sticks with the formula that you start you're career playing small town gigs and playing relativley easy songs, before you move onwards and upwards by playing clubs, halls and eventually concerts, showcasing the best and most difficult songs to play. With a setlist as stunning as this you can't go wrong. From Nirvana's "Heart Shaped ... Read the complete review
