Advantages: Fun, feel like Bond, drive cars, use gadgets, Bond moments

Disadvantages: Some strange controls, graphics a bit poor

James Bond Agent Under Fire is a shooter for the Playstation 2 developed by EA games.

The games plot sees James Bond team up with a CIA agent Zoe Nightshade as the two uncover a sinsister plot, the company Malprave Industries has come up with a scheme where they are going to clone the world leaders and replace them with clones controlled by them so they effectively have control of the world! James has to save the day once again. The story is a little basic but is really fitting with the over the top themes of the James Bond universe.

The gameplay is a usually a standard first person shooter but with some odd control choices, strangely they have gone for the X button to fire which is a little odd at first as every other shooter goes for R1 or R2! The weapons in the game range from pistols, assault rifles, shotguns and rocket launchers and James also has a few gadgets that will let him open doors and get around the environments.

There are also Bond moments where you can shoot explosive barrels or shoot an object down which will land and kill a group of enemies just like James Bond would, you get a riff from the classic Bond theme and bonus points as your reward! The game also shakes things up completely in some levels where you will control either your BMW Z4 or classic Aston Martin which are both gadget laden with rockets, guns and more! These levels have you chase down foes while blowing everything up and are really reminiscent of scenes from some of the movies.

Graphics are a little basic with everything looking a bit to cartoony but it is an early Playstation 2 game and can be forgiven as it is in line with games of that era.

James Bond Agent Under Fire is a fine game and apart from the slightly weird controls Bond fans will love it.

Summary: Great Bond game.
