Advantages: Good Missions, really great multiplayer
Disadvantages: Not enough different guns
James Bond 007: NightFire is a first-person shooter foor the PlayStation 2. I bought it because I was hoping it would be like the old N64 game "GoldenEye". I wasn't disappointed...
When you first turn on the game you do a tutorial mission in which you have to save Dominique by first shooting a sniper rifle out of a helicopter and then by car. It is a good introduction to the game and helps you learn the basic controls. You are then shown the main menu, where you can pick what mode you want to play: The Missions or Multiplayer.
There are twelve missions in all, as you play as Bond trying to take down the evil villain Drake. One thing I like is that the missions are varied, for instance sometimes you are in normal first person mode and other times you can be driving different vehicles like Bond's Aston Martin or a snowmobile. Also each level features different guns and different characters and as you go on you unlock various characters and new guns for the multiplayer mode. Even though there are only twelve missions they are big and varied enough to keep you entertained and challenged, while the storyline is captivating enough for a Playstation game.
The controls work well, and are easy enough for someone to pick up and play even if they haven't ever played the game before. The only fault I can find with them is it is hard to jump properly on to objects, but it is a minor issue and not big enough to hamper your enjoyment of the game. The only other gripe I have is there could have been a few more guns for use in multiplayer.
The multiplayer mode is the funnest part of the game, where you and friends can take on each other or players controlled by the playstation called bots. These "Bots" are good because you can change their level of difficulty, their type, etc.
Overall, Nightfire is one of the finest first-person shooters on the Playstation 2 that I have played.
Summary: Best shooting game on the PS2
