Advantages: Graphics, Story, music, Gameplay it's all great

Disadvantages: Creating your own Gummi ship can be a little awkward

Kingdom Hearts was developed and published by Square-enix in 2002 for the playstation 2. This game is a collaboration of square (final fantasy) and Disney. It's a single player game rated a 7+. With an all star voice cast from most of the original Disney films. This is and Roll playing game with everything from magic, summons, levelling up and a great story line. This game is really popular and has sold over 100,000 to become platinum.

Storyline: "When a supernatural storm transports 14 year old Sora to a distant land, he sets out to track down his missing friends. Teaming up with court wizard Donald and captain Goofy; join Sora as he embarks on a valiant quest to find his friends and defeat the evil Heartless", quoted from the back box.

The world of Kingdom Hearts is set out that each world you visit is home to a different animated story, you start at dynasty island you don't do much here just get use to the game play, then a freak storm comes and you get introduced to the heartless, bad guys that are made of pure darkness hiding in the shadow hell bent on taking over the universe.

After a short fight where you are bestowed with a powerful weapon known as the keyblade, the heartless swallow up Dynasty island and you are some how transported to Traverse Town and your friends Riku and Kiari are missing, at the same time King Mickey has disappeared leaving a note to his captain and court wizard (Goofy and Donald) stating that he is off to help fight against the rising darkness and they are to find a "Key" to defeating evil. Donald and Goofy arrive at Traverse Town by Gummi ship (a way to transport from one world to the next described later) and team up with Sora and the keybalde to help king Mickey, find Sora's friends and stop evil.

Along the way you will bump into enemies such as Jaffar, Hades, Clayton to name a few and shops will open up new weapons for donald and goofy, accessories for the party and Sora will obtain stronger better KeyBlades. Dotted around the world are Treasure chests to obtain and Trinity marks which gives you gifts or takes you to hidden locations.

Characters: The three main characters at the start of the story are Sora (you), Riku and Kairi. You meet famous characters such as Donald duck, goofy, Mickey Mouse, Genie, Aladdin, Tinkerbell, Peter pan, Bambi, Mushu, Mulan, Simba, The Lion King to name a few from disney. Characters from Final fantasy Tidus, Wakka, Selphie Tilmitt, Squall Leonhart, Aerith Gainsborough, Cid Highwind, Yuffie Kisaragi, Rikku, Irvine Kinneas, Cloud, Sephiroth and more.

Battle System: The battle system works on the basis that no matter who kills the enemy you will all get the experience, the experience is shown above the defeated enemy. When you defeat an enemy you can obtain health (HP), Munny (currency), Black balls (recharges magic points (MP)), and some times items. Each time you level up you will obtain an increase in strength, defence, more health, more ability points, more magic or you can learn new abilities.

You have a set amount of ability point (AP) and you can assign them to what abilities you would like to use in battle from new moves to more munny from a single enemy each ability has its own ability price (I.E. 1 AP for ability Scan). You can use spells the basic of which are Fire, Blizzard, Thunder and Cure. Progressing through the game you obtain Summons which you can use to defeat enemies they only last for a certain length of time but can come in handy.

Gummi Ship: You use the Gummi ship to travel from world to world it's classed as a Mini game, when travelling you have to shot down enemy ships and avoid obstructions to get to your destination. The Gummi ship is a very interesting feature you obtain Gummi ship parts around the worlds which then allows you to modify or create your own ship. You can also obtain Blue prints to new ships and you can build them as long as you have the parts.

Synthesising: You can obtain new more powerful items and accessories by synthesising shards you obtain of enemies such as Blaze shard and frost shards etc. The synthesising shops are allocated in certain worlds and are run by Moogles (from final fantasy) they look like teddy bears with wings.

Overall this is a great game, the final fantasy characters gives this game a hint of nostalgia for anyone who likes the series and the Disney characters are great and give the game some funny moments. You can pick up this game for about £5 to £10 but is well worth it. The graphics are great with an impressive musical score which gives the game a more rememberable play and gets you involved with the story more. You can see a trailer at the following:

One of the greatest games ever made and the first RPG I ever played (and I only pay RPG and RTS now). This game is definitely among the best RPGs from Square Enix along with Dragon Quest VIII and Final Fantasy VII, VIII, X and XII.

I highly recommend this game to all. At first, the combination will sound odd and possibly childish but the memorable and complex characters, fun gameplay and the captivating plot make this an amazing intro into the RPG world for newbies and an awesome game for veterans of the genre.

Anyway, great review of a great game. Nominated!
