Advantages: Much better graphics and skills than the original

Disadvantages: none that I could find

This game is a remake of the original Tomb Raider game from back in 1996. If you are familiar with the original game then it is a real pleasure playing this version of it as you revisit the same places as in the last game and fight the same kid of enemies but they are all brought up to date with fabulous graphics and much more enjoyment to the game.

The game story is practically the same as the original story but more involved as it mentions about Lara looking for clues about her mother's disappearance (which was introduced in the previous game Tomb Raider Legend). Lara is looking for the Scion which is an artifact which she believes will help her find out what happened to her mother.

The levels are harder than in the original game and more complex. The later levels are really hard and take many times of trying before you can do a certain move or something to defeat a boss or complete the part of the game you are in.

There are many puzzles in the Tomb Raider games and this one doesnt disappoint you. The puzzles are interesting and really make you work your brain to sort out what to do.

The sound effects fit in well with the levels and make it a much more exciting experience than in the early games. Some bits are quite scary with the added atmosphere of the music.

There are four countries you visit in the game, Peru, Greece, Egypt and Lost Island.

Peru: You do 4 levels in Peru - Mountain caves, City of Vilacabamba, The Lost Valley and Tomb of Qualopec. You have to defeat enemies like wolves and bears, raptors and dinosaurs. There are many puzzles to workout in these levels to get yourself through to the next bit. The graphics are quite dark and moody to fit in with being inside ancient tombs.

Greece: There are 4 levels in Greece to get through - St Francis Folly, Colliseum, Mida's Palace and Tomb of Tihocan. The enemies on these levels include lions, gorillas, bats and rats. More puzzles on ths level plus lots of climbing so you can use lara's new skills that she has in this game up the the very basic skills of the original game.

Egypt - This has 3 levels to complete - Temple of Khamoon, Obelisk of Khamoon and the Sactuary of the Scion. The enemies on these levels include black panthers, cat mummies and flying mutants. The graphic on these levels are really good and take you right into the Egyptian tombs. Lots more climbing and spinning round poles and some great puzzles.

The Lost Island (thought to be Atlantis) - 3 more levels on this section - Natla's Mines, The Great Pyramid and The final Conflict. These levels have enemies like rats, more flying nutants, cat mutants, a giant legless mutant and Natla herself. The first of these levels is set in the mines and has climbing and working out how to get to the fused needed to complete the level. Then the next two levels are really hard fighting against the mutants. You need to work out how to defeat them by using different skills. Then the finale against Natla which is similar to the ending of the original game.

I really enjoyed playing this game and if you are a Tomb Raider fan you will enjoy it as well.

Summary: PS2 version of the Anniversary Tomb Raider game
