Advantages: Interesting concept, may shock you

Manhunt is an action game developed by Rockstar for the Playstation 2.

The story follows the character of James Earl Cash, he has been sentenced to death by lethal injection but somehow manages to survive, you learn that this is no co incidence. You have been recruited by the "Director" who promises that you will have your freedom but only if you help him first, you do this by performing brutal kills which the Director will watch through cameras and delights in watching these acts of violence and passing them onto others. It's a pretty creepy tale but after the initial burst of story doesn't really go any deeper.

The game is largely a stealth based affair and you will have to stick to the shadowy areas of the game and keep quiet if you don't want to be destroyed by the games various enemies. You can distract them by throwing objects and sneak around them or lure them into an idea position for you to attack. It's quite a satisfying feeling to sneak behind your foe and take them out.

You can attack your foes with a variety of weaponry ranging from a humble plastic bag, knifes, axes, clubs and later on in the game you will come across a variety of firearms which you can use a lockon combat system similar to Grand Theft Auto to gun down your foes.

The execution moves in Manhunt are what will score you the most points and at these moments the game is at its most graphic and brutal, the game switches to the Directors view from a security camera and you can see your character horrifically mutilate his enemy. These scenes can be a little disturbing so this is not a game for younger players.

Graphics could be ripped straight from Grand Theft Auto but without the massive free roaming environments, the game is good at capturing a dark and gritty environment.

Manhunt is a violent action game that may shock you at points, due to its graphic nature I wouldn't give this to a younger player.
