Metal Gear. If you're a gamer of at least 20 years of age, you surely must of heard of this series. Starting way back in 1988 on the Commodore 64, the series can be described as a virtual game of hide and seek. It's stealth at it's finest-the playstation has been considered the best game ever and the series has been loved by many gamers around the world. It makes me feel like i'm the weirdo who hasn't played Metal Gear Solid. Anyway, I took the plunge and got this off Amazon. I was worried that i wouldn't understand a thing because I hadn't played the original (a dumb move for me there, cyberslap my wrist). Luckily, I could still understand what was going on. And, you ... Perusing through some old issues of Play magazine, I recall the immense, all-consuming hype that surrounded the release of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons Of Liberty. The coverage of Konami’s next-generation stealth adventure was unparalleled, as was the seemingly unending wait to see what score it would be awarded in the gaming press; in my experience, only Namco’s long-awaited Ridge Racer Type 4 and the expectation as to whether it could retake the racing-genre crown back from Gran Turismo in 1999 came anything close. So anyway, backtrack to 2001 and Play magazine issue 85 features a massive eight page review of this gaming goliath, one of the first in the country ... Read the complete review

Every now and then you'll come across a game which you just can't help but play and play until you can play no more. When games like this appear, it's hard to pay attention to other things, other than the gameplay. When you buy Metal Gear Solid 2 your not only guaranteeing a total of two weeks of addictive gameplay, but also your life. This game might actually ruin your day to day lifestyle, you just won't want to stop. It's like you just have to play one more time to find out another surprise, like watching a funny movie again to review the missed jokes. When Metal Gear Solid came out on the PlayStation, people had mixed opinions about it, ... Read the complete review

The camera fades into a rainy evening along the George Washington Bridge over the Hudson River. Traffic whizzes by the wide flowing river flows beneath the bridge. The camera shows a lonely figure walking along the pavement of the bridge with a cigarette and rain coat. The hood of the raincoat prevents you from seeing the figures face as he saunters towards the camera in a very casual stride. The figure takes one last drag from his cigarette and throws it off into the night. Suddenly he begins to break into a slow run before accelerating, his rain coat flies of and he disappears. The general outline of the figure can be seen jumping of the side of the bridge. What a ... Read the complete review

Without a doubt the most divisive of the Metal Gear Solid games, Sons of Liberty was the series jump onto the PS2, delivering a game with unrivalled graphics, and a rather strange twist that nobody really saw coming. When the game was originally released, trailers had focused on Snake walking around a tanker and not much else, causing gamers to wonder what was going on. Anyway, when the game was released, we found out the truth, that Snake is only in the first part of the game, which lasts about two hours, and for the other 10 or so hours, you actually play as a soldier called Raiden, much to the disappointment of many MGS fans, myself included (largely because of the ...
