Advantages: graphics, gameplay, plot
Disadvantages: won't last forever
This game is quite simply the most outstanding piece of entertainment that man has ever created. Those who have played Metal Gear Solid will know what to expect. The game is predominatly a third person perspective evasion game with the option to go into a 1st person view to look around and shoot people. To succeed in the game you really must think - if you are spotted guards will radio in to tell others of your presence, you also lose your radar which makes things even trickier. This makes a superb change from the kind of games where you can just storm in all guns blazing. The game engine itself is supported by aplot worthy and indeed better than many Hollywood movies. It revolves around a terrorist plot but I won't go into any detail as I don't want to spoil it. The level of detail is truely amazing. For instance if you shoot a guard's radio he will be unable to alert others of your presence. As you go through the game various new methods and tasks are introduced which keeps the interest high. The game is also significantly longer than its predecessor. The graphics are the best seen on the PS2 yet. They are crisp and move fluidly throughout even when the action gets hectic (which it often can). This is the best reason possible to buy a PS2. The response and graphics are far superior to that which can be seen in the first batch of Xbox games. If Sony can keep a supply of games like this coming then Microsoft are going to have a real struggle on their hands as despite the hardware power available they don't seem to have the type of revolutionary software that their Japanese rival has.
