Advantages: Fresh new gameplay in jungle setting, fantastic story.

Disadvantages: More long cut scenes to sit through.

A firm favourite of many fans of the series, this installment sees players take control of a very familiar character in an all new cold war setting. Without giving too much away, this sudden departure from the familiar setting of the series really pays off, and gives fans the opportunity to find out a little about the historical backdrop of the previous games in the series.

The gameplay mechanics in Snake Eater are as sharp as ever, and creator Hideo Kojima takes full advantage of the jungle setting to allow players to sneak around and camoflage themselves in order to blend in and evade the enemy.

The story, although much less complicated than the perhaps overly ambitious Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty does hae its fair share of twists and turns, but then it just wouldn't be a Metal Gear game if it didn't.

This prequel is a very worthy addition to the series, and is a game that will remain in the mind of the player long after completion.

Summary: Highly recommended tactical sneaking game with a great story.
