Advantages: solid racing, lot's of cars and customizing options.

Disadvantages: Lack of attention to everything in the game.

Need for Speed Pro Street is a real racer only this time all races are legal!!!! The story of Pro Street is as follows; you're a illegal street racer but decided you had enough of the cop chases so you went into the legal side of racing. Like always you start in a bad car which has poor acceleration and handling. Your first race will be a great shock I've you have played other race you'll notice your car slides easily and that helps taking corners. In Pro Street your car is just nailed to the ground and corners are extremely hard to take. Ones you get used to this it feels normal and you'll like as it feels more realistic.

The game is overly sponsored by oil companies and car insurances which aren't too bad but on every single corner! There are plenty of cars in the game with most of them coming from previous games, top speeds can't get radically high like in Need for Speed Carbon. There are enough races to participate in and it will take fair enough of time to get to the Ryo who is the Showdown king which means he is the best racer in the game. One of his drift races is really hard and you'll need to get the right car.

All races feel the same after a while and there isn't much of variation between the races. In Pro Street you can start doing races by going to a Race Day and in each Race Day there are several races that need to be done to win. You can win a race day by either winning the day or dominate the day by getting enough points for winning.
The races provided in Pro Street are as follows:

* Drag races are races where you have to go from point A to B. Before every race you'll need to warm up your tires which make it better but after a while it gets boring. Drag races consist of 3 different race types. Quarter mile drag, half a mile drag and a wheelie race where you have to try to wheelie for the longest possible time. These races could get frustrating as you can crash very easily on a particular race day.
* Normal grip races are like circuit races. They are around an enclosed loop and are usually between 2 to 4 laps long. First player that reaches the finish wins.
* Time attack is like normal grip races only this time the player with the fastest lap time wins the race. They are 3 laps around the circuit.
* Sector dual is the same as normal grip and time attack only this time the circuit is divided up in sectors and you will have to try to conquer most sectors to win.
* Speed Challenges are like sprint races only this time on extremely high speeds. The slightest mistake will be punished harsh fully and will mostly result in you crashing. These races will probably cause you most trouble.
* Drift races are races where you have to skid under control to earn points. You will not loose your points if you crash put you will not gain any bonuses. These races could be tricky to complete but they are normally fairly easy to do.

Graphics...

EA hasn't placed much of attention on the graphics. Cars look great but there is know damage scale which does ruin the fun and gets you angry when you look at the damages that can be done in the Xbox 360 and PS3 games. In Pro Street you don't get the feeling to often that you drive on high speeds, you could blame this on the fact that you drive slow cars most of the time. Another reason is that the frame rate isn't very high and is frequently choppy.

Sound...

What can I say it, again it lacks attention. The game announcers work on your nerves due to a bad script and bad poorly voiced. They call you by your full name (Ryan Cooper) and they do this several hundred times. Car sounds are ok but they sound more or less all the same and that just bores you out. the featured song isn't interesting to hear and what makes it worse is that you hear it many and many times as the career is pretty long.

Game play...

Again it just lakes attention. Unlike the other series EA has kept the controls more or less the same they had to change it in Pro Street. I don't know whether you can change it or not but I really hope you can.

I will probably give this game a 6 due to the fact that everything just seemed to have just too little attention dedicated to it, and that they just had to get a new game out so they just ruffled it off. The main menu is hard to navigate and the option of tuning cars after you finished is also gone which is a BIG negative thing. I wouldn't recommend anyone buying this game for PS2 as you'll hate yourself for spending so much money on a soulless game. If I was you, just wait till you have a PS3 or XBOX 360 cause that looks like a lot more fun.

Nitrocides Top Tips: if you have the game the best car and you have a hard time playing it. The best car for each event is as follows.

* For grip events the best car is the Porsche 911 turbo. It has great combination of acceleration, top speed, and handling.
* For drift events the best car is the Mazda RX7.
* For drag events the best car is the Shelby mustang or the Toyota Celica which has 960 bhp.
* For speed events the best car is the Pagani Zonda. I know it's expensive but it has a top speed of 403 KPH or 250 MPH. if you can't afford it buy yourself either the Lamborghini Murcielago or the Ford GT40.

In wheelie races use your NOZ as soon as you shift into fourth gear or when you car is coming down this will give it an extra boost. I managed to wheelie a full 400 meters which is the length of this event.

thanks for reading -Nitrocide-

Summary: lets hope this is just one blooper for EA and that they produce better products in future.
