Need for speed underground for PS2, made by EA games, rated age 3+, from 1 to 2 player's offline to 2 to 4 players online. This adrenaline fuelled world is set in Olympic city, where at night all the hot racers go to prove themselves. Olympic city is very cleverly designed with real landmarks put into it, Central park, Sunset Boulevard, empire state building and others. This game has an all star line up for the music from lostprophets to Nate dogg. The cars consist of Nissan Skyline GT-R R34, Mazda RX-7, Dodge Neon and Toyota Celica GT-S just to name a few.

You start the game as a rookie with a bog standard car, your friend Samantha shows you the ropes and gets you into the underground world of racing. Winning races are only the start of it; you need reputation and for that you will need to kit out your car to the max. With loads of different skirts, bumpers, head light, graphics etc for the outside and computer chips, exhausts, wheels etc for the engine and performance (and of course nitro to give your car a bit more va va voom). Once your car gets a bit out dated you can trade it in for a faster model. During races you will get style points for drifting, being airborne etc to unlock cars and vinyls, be careful as well as gaining them you can also lose them for bad driving.

There are seven different race modes which are;

Circuit, standard race so many laps on a certain track.

Sprint, race from point to point.

Drag, this is short straight race, however gear changing has to be done manually,
Change too early or too late and your car will lose power.

Drift, (my favourite) handbrake around corners and gain massive style points, oh and do this as well as coming first.

Lap knockout, like circuit except after every race the loser gets knocked out until there is only one.

Free run, no time, no competition, no rules, just open road.
Tournament, series of races where the higher you come the more points you get.

The controls are as follows: accelerate (X), brake/reverse (square) look back (circle), change camera (triangle) handbrake (R1) nitrous (L1) gear down (L2) gear up (R2) so its fairly straight forward.

Of course the overall object of the game is to be the best with the best car as well as playing through the story of you and your friends. The graphics are great, even with the high speed races. I found it a little awkward to get used to the points system. I brought this game for £5 as part of a 4 for £20 deal but retails as £7.99 in game station. Overall this is a great fun filled game.
