Good but not great (Need for Speed Underground (PS2))

Advantages: Car modification.

Disadvantages: To many race types.

Need for speed underground is a good racing game, the city setting is a great way of accessing races but the city should be more interactive. The modding of cars is fun and hours can be spent on this but the racing soon becomes tedious and some types of race never seem to work properly. X-cross and drift are not well-designed races for the kind of controller used. I like the drag racing feature and the circuts and sprints are exciting on hard mode. I would recommend steering wheel to make this game more realistic but I don't know whether these are still available to buy for the old ps2 platform. A good alternative if you are looking for more track like racing would be gran turismo because the races are better and there is no stupid storyline about gang rivalries and 'car modding'. Overall this is a good game to have in your collection but not essential.

Summary: Ok not great.
