Advantages: Great graphics and cut scenes , Finally an interesting commentators, A sack full of stats....

Disadvantages: Most of which are useless, Can get tiresome, Some slow down

EA have given us football, basketball and even golf so that we don't even have to leave the comfort of our own house to enjoy the world of sports. Now they bring us the fastest game in the world.... Ice hockey. Or to be precise the NHL to our PS2s.

With every NHL team and twenty international teams to tinkle your skills and tickle your pleasure buds with, you will have a hard time mastering it. There are five modes of play "Exhibition" pick two teams and do your best to thrash the computer or a friend into oblivion. You can play through an entire seasons 82 to games (you can lower the amount if you want), or skip the season and go straight to the playoffs and try to win the Stanley Cup. Alternately you can play a tournament and thrash a number of opponents in a row. If you couldn't be bothered playing a match you can just play the computer in a shout out. The graphics are nice and smooth but with the occasional slow down. The replays are nice showing you the goals from different angles and the cut scenes are also good showing the managers and players reactions to goals or their team mates being sent to the sin bin. The game also lets you create yourself and you can also design your own attributes. EA have put in a nice feature instead of you only being able to make trades the computer will also offer you trades. The game has more stats than you can get your head round and if players perform well they go on a hot streak but if they perform bad they will go on a cold streak. EA have made the commentators somehow interesting with useless but smart facts to bedazzle you with about individual players.

A very nice package with a well put together game with lushes graphics if not jerky at times. More stats than the Guinness book of records, with new features to keep you entertained and the gameplay is fast and furious and four difficulties to keep you hooked. But with most sport games you may get a little tired, but with this game it wil
l take you a while to get bored. Overall a must buy game which will keep you and your mates entertained for a ages.

Good op, I am a big fan of Ice Hockey but this game (on the PSone at least) is just too easy, even on the hardest difficulty, to keep me occupied for a long period of time. Again, a good op, cheers.

Smark.
