NHL 2002.....What is it all about? NHL 2002 is an ice hockey game produced by EA Sports and is this years release of the NHL series. It is based on American Ice Hockey and the players and teams in the computer game are based on actual NHL competitors. The idea behind the game is to guide your chosen team on the ice, competing and qualifying for play-offs to attempt to win the Stanley Cup over a season. You can even choose to play over ten consecutive seasons if you wish (this has not been possible before) and there are also extra tournaments and penalty shoot outs that you can take part in along the way. I have just bought NHL 2002. I bought it because for a couple of years, I had resisted the temptation to "keep up with the Jones's" as far as NHL **** goes. Every year, EA Sports seem to bring out another NHL Ice Hockey game for the various formats of games machine that are currently around. I remember the first attempt. EA Hockey it was called. It incorporated many of the features that still exist today. Multiplayer, Fighting, line changes,etc. However, over the next few years, they honed it down to a fine piece of software with stunning graphics and realistic gameplay. I have always been a fan of EA's NHL games. This is despite the fact that I never watch ice hockey - it just seems to be one of those sports that is perfectly suited to video games. I didn't get NHL 2001 for PS2 because after playing the demo I was annoyed by how much the action slowed up when lots of players were on screen. With NHL 2002 on the horizon I decided to wait and thankfully the problem has been eliminated. An NHL card system like those in recent Madden games has been included.
