*My review of Phantasy Star Universe is based on the offline experience because I can't afford to play online.* The fighting system is similar to and will feel familiar to fans of Phantasy Star Online. So it's in real-time, and there's no pausing the game offline. The game sees to the likes of lock-on and strafing, but is still fairly simple, and as satisfying. A sense of character progress - not only does your character level up from battling, but by using skills and earning mission points, then the photon arts and character type, respectively, level up. Part of the elusive Phantasy Star series that has been around since the days of SNES, I played this after enjoying the GC release, Phantasy Star Online: Episode I & II, hoping for a similar gaming experience. Firstly, the graphics are as I expected for the console, and for the game. I wouldn't say I was disappointed by them, oh no, they were fab. But more could've been done for this somewhat later release, especially during cutscenes where I felt they just didn't match up. Visually overall, the colours were nicely done, nothing too eyesore and not too squint the eyes to see, even in the darker places you didn't need to get up close to try and figure out which ...
