Advantages: Everything

Although the Prince of Persia series has recently been rebooted with cel-shaded graphics, The Two Thrones, released a few years ago, was a spiritual and thematic end to one chapter of the Prince's story, following on from two quality games The Sands of Time and Warrior Within. This is a very solid way to end the series, with plenty of plot threads being tied up, and most importantly, some great gameplay.

The game opens with The Prince heading to Baylon with Kaileena, hoping he can keep her safe there, but sadly, the city is besieged and she is soon enough kidnapped by that pesky Vizier from the first game. All Hell breaks loose as the magic Dagger gets thrown into the mix and it winds up with Kaileena dying and the Vizier turning into a huge, hulking beast. With a few nifty time tricks, the Prince realises that it isn't too late to save Babylon and Kaileena, but he would have to be fast. More of a struggles come from within, though, as the Prince must contend with the sand having touched him, transforming him into a dichotomous hero-villain. However, this new form can be harnessed for good, allowing you to attack the baddies with higher levels of damage, and also means you can pull off some absolutely insane combos.

Cycles is the key here - this is a game that really brings us full circle to Sands of Time, and whilst it brings a lot to the table for ardent fans, it's still extremely playable whether you've touched the other games or not. If you care about plot, I recommend checking the others out (they're also very fun, too!), but if you just want to dive straight into the acrobatics, then it works very well as a standalone game also.

With impressive visuals, an engrossing plot and always fun gameplay, this is a great way to see the PS2 trilogy out.

Summary: A platforming wonder
