Pro evolution soccer 2 is the latest in the long running iss series by konami. I purchased it in december of last year, not knowing what to expect, But by playing the other installments of ISS on the ps1 i was confident that this game would give me everything i hope for, and I was not disapointed.


Gameplay

One of the most addictive factors of this game, is that it never tires. Its not like other games, you cannot finish it, there is no last level, You just play football. There are a lot of different modes of gameplay. For instance, there is exhibition, cup,league and master league,training and penalty kick shootouts, not to mention all star matches. There are over 80 cup and league sides, unfortunetely they dont bare there real names due to copyright reasons, for instant, arragon = manchester united. Viere = viera. But dont worry, you can edit the club colours, flags, player names and team names in the very well put together editor. You can also edit the appearance of players.
The master league is new to the pro evolution series. You start with a club team with random generated names, and you start off in division 3. Each time you win you will collect points, these will enable you to buy new players aswell as sell them in the transfer market. Here you can bolster your squad to reach the top diviision and be champion. Although a fun option, when you start out, the players you are given are not very good, so you have to buy, so you can progress.


Graphics

The graphics are the best ive ever seen in any football sim ever. They beat fifa hands down. The only difference fifa has, is that it has the names and kit sponsors on the front of the shirts, a feature i would love to see added in the upcoming new iss pro evolution 3 due out in november. The player sprites and animations are second to none, the way the pitch cuts up as you run down the wing is excellent. Konami have done well to research t
he facial features of many of the worlds top superstars such as edgar davids, david beckham, micheal owen. In fact, they used David Beckham as motion capture for this game. The fact that ive never seen graphics so good, it took me a while to get into the stride of this game as everything is so different.


Overall i recommend this game to any football fan out there with a ps2, its well worth the money and the next installment is due out in november.
