Konami seem to be in something of the doldrums at the moment because while the Pro Evolution soccer series has always sold very well, it seems to have recently lost a lot of ground to it's main competitor Fifa and so with this fresh new stronger challenge to it's title as the best football game, Konami release Pro Evolution 2009. Since I had not even bothered with the previous effort from Konami, it was good to see that some new variation has been included in this game. Akin to Fifa there is now a Become A Legend Mode which will allow you to create your own football from scratch, customise his looks and his ability and progressing his ability as his ... Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 came out on all gaming consoles and I bought the Playstatiion 2 version.I was very excited as the last Pro Evo I had bought was Pro Evo 6,which is the 2006/2007 version of the game.It was the best football game on the PS2 I had ever played, and I was expecting more of the same from this.Unfortunately I was very dissapointed as this gaming franchise seemed to have gone backwards with this awful game. One of the things I had most liked about the Pro Evo series was the ability to play fast,free-flowing football but this is impossible to do in this game. For some reason you have to use the directional buttons to move the players, which makes ... The latest in the Pro Evo series and it doesn't disappoint. This doesn't mean I'm swaying towards Pro Evo in the Pro Evo vs FIFA battle, I still can't choose, but I believe both games are rapidly improving as a result of a nice bit of healthy competition. The addition of the Become A Legend mode just goes to show how far the game has come in recent years, it allows you to play as your own created player in a first person perspective. You start as a 17 year old in an assessment match, from then on, clubs will look to sign you, decide which club best suits you and lead them to glory as loyal hero, or switch clubs in search of some higher level football. The game ... Read the complete review

The greatest football series of all time has been dissapointing in recent years. things haven't progressed much. it almost feels like Konami are changing the game each year just so they can sell the new version. Pro Evolution 2009 is no different, except this year they have added the Legend Mode. the Legend Mode allows you to play as a single player within a team and build a career. Its a fun addition but could do with some improvements as it can feel a little jerky. The rest of the game has been tweaked as usual, so it feels like a new game. As usual it takes a few weeks to get to grips with the new changes, after that the game is very easy. I still play ... Read the complete review
