Advantages: Very Realistic

Disadvantages: Can be quite hard

There is no doubting that this is an excellent and incredible game, but the question is: Is it really worth the money?
I had this game on the PS1 and I thoroughly enjoyed it, in fact I was almost addicted to it, so it had a lot to live up to on the PS2.

For starters the graphics are simply brilliant. It actually looks like you are watching the footy on the television, the stadiums and the players look real, and it actually feels like you are playing inside Highbury or the Catalonia stadium.
Some people criticise this game as it doesn’t use the players real names, but this doesn’t actually effect the game play, so I don’t see it as a problem. In any case, their is an edit mode in which you can make the names correct. You can also make up teams and add yourself into the game using this feature. It is incredibly detailed and you can choose what boots they wear and even the hairstyles the players have!
There are various modes of play in which you can play in all the International Cups. There is also an International League in which you can compete against 15 other countries. There is a Champions League type competition, but it is in a league format throughout rather than a knockout and you can choose any of the top European teams. Apparently if you win all the competitions then you unlock secret all-star and classic teams, but I haven’t come across this feature just yet.

My major criticism of this game, is the controls, they are quite hard to get used to and some of the moves are quite hard to pull off. But this improves with practise (use practise mode). It is also quite hard to score goals, but I suppose this adds realism to the game. It is incredibly realistic and you won’t be winning 20-0 after 30 minutes of playing like on FIFA. It contains all the issues and aspects of the modern game including diving and even bad referring decisions!

Some people prefer FIFA to this, but I think this is
by far the best game on the PS2. Multiplayer games are great fun and I even sometimes find myself taking them far too seriously and even start shouting at the television
