It's little surprise that gamers have been so contented with the state of the platform genre during the early part of this decade, with titles such as Jak & Daxter and Ratchet & Clank spearheading the genres evolution. Both of these games are technical colossus's; with huge amounts of long-term appeal, tried-and-tested gameplay mechanics and outstanding visuals. It could be argued that Psychonauts doesn't possess these assets in any great abundance and yet, somehow, is ultimately better than either of the above. Story. ****** You play as Raz(putin), a yellow looking kid that has psychic powers. Your strict dad however has forbade you (yes, forbade) from using them though, so doing what any kid would do, Raz ran away to become a psychonaut (international psychic secret agent). As a bit of an added story though, you find out that his family were once cursed to die in the water, so when you get close to some-a hand will come out and try to kill you. Back to the main story though-you play as Raz, who warps into peoples minds in his training camp to fight some personal demons-that aren't your own.
