Ratchet and Clank is a platforming action title exclusive to the Playstation 2 developed by Insomniac.

The story introduces us to the pair the furry weasel like Ratchet and Clank, the two join together to stop the evil Chairman Drek who is hell bent on creating himself a new planet which would mean the end of the galaxy! The duo head off on their adventure which is told well, easily comprehendible and has some really silly scenes that will get you to snigger along the way.

In the game you will normally control Ratchet, the game is a third person adventure which shows off the excellent character animations, Ratchet is armed with a variety of weapons from bombs, flamethrowers, mines, machine guns and even a gun that sucks up enemies and shoots them at others! The shooting action is satisfying and controls exceptionally well with a superb lock on system and free aim available.

Ratchet also will have some jumps to overcome and screws to turn with his comical giant ratchet aswell as bolts to collect to help you on your way to weapon upgrades and increased health. The platforming isn't terribly difficult, the action seems far more focused on the combat.

Clank is relegated to riding along on Ratchets back and helping him with some jumps for most of the adventure but occasionally gets his own little sections of play where he platforms for a while with the Gadgebots to assist him. In addition to that you will also get to ride on Ratchets hoverboard and even compete in some races, though these are probably the weakest parts of the game.

Graphically for an early PS2 game the character models but especially animations are excellent, the characters are really brought to life well by the graphics and good quality voice over.

Ratchet and Clank offers it all, a funny easygoing storyline, likeable characters, fun gameplay, you couldn't want any more!

Summary: An excellent adventure.
