You play as Parker who, along with thousands of other people, had come to work for the mining company Ultor Cooporation on Mars in the hope that it would lead to a better life. But conditions are poor, and the Ultor guards treat the miners like dirt. Looks like it's time to strike back, and join the revolution. Oh, and do something about the deadly plague that is spreading. Weapons-wise, I would have thought a pistol weapon be dependable in an FPS but the 12MM Pistol was inaccurate. As for the Remote Charge, Grenades and Rocket Launcher, their explosions hardly packed a punch. Saying that, there are bigger, and better weapons to pick up later, though with the ... Red Faction - Join The Revolution ! Intro ------ Red faction is the story of the Ultor Mining corporations downfall. You play Parker, a miner employed by Ultor. You came to Mars and join this mining corporation called Ultor for the hope and supposed promise of a better life. None of this promise is true and to make things worse the guards working for Ultor are contiunally agressive towards the miners. Plus the fact that a plauge is sweeping through the mines killing many miners that become infected. As it stands among the miners, it looks as if a revolt is on the hands as the miners are getting continually frustrated with ... Read the complete review

Wanted: Highly skilled worker for a huge new company expanse. The pay is great, the hours flexible. Disadvantages? Not many. The beatings from the guards can become irratating, and the deadly virus can get in the way of work, but apart from this, it is a highly-respected position. Oh, and it's on Mars. Right. But there are a surprising amount of applicants for this work in the future, apparently, according to THQ, the developers of the new FPS PS2 (acronym over-load!) game, Red Faction. Ultor are the mean mining company that is set to make millions from the minerals stored beneath Mars' surface. You play the part of Parker, a discruntled employee, ... Read the complete review

If you asked me for a list of top first person shooters I’d have to include Half-Life, Goldeneye and Rogue Spear. Having played the likes of Quake 3 and Unreal Tournament too I’d say that this type of title is best suited for the PC. Nintendo/Rare did a magnificent job with Goldeneye on the N64 although the control method was never as precise. I revisited console first person shooters on the Dreamcast when Quake 3 Arena was released earlier this year and I have to say that I was fairly impressed -–even more so when I eventually got hold of a mouse and keyboard. Again, it’s time for first person shooters but this time they’re making ... Read the complete review

When I first heard about Red Faction, in the early stages of its development, it was one of the few games that really caught my eye. This new Geo-Mod Technology thing was just gaining some recognition, and once I heard what it could (potentially) do, I was even more intrigued. It was about time an FPS got a serious facelift, and Volition/THQ were promising a massively revolutionary game. Of course, after previewing the game, I did have a few concerns. When wading into uncharted waters, it's difficult to be incredibly successful. Not just because you're attempting to create something quite unique, but also because, in general, people are frightened of ... Read the complete review
